Hi all, I am new to the site and want to thank everyone for the great information so far. I do have a question? My 2012 Tacoma 2.7 ac stopped working the other day. I was going slow up a road pushed the ac button heard a squeal and it stopped working. Prior to this issue( 15 minutes before) it was working fine blowing cold air. So far I have checked the relay by switching it with the horn relay. Horn works, ac still doesn't. The belt is tight, the ac pump seams to spin fine. The front of the pulley, maybe called the magnetic kicks on until the light starts flashing. I did notice if I rev the engine up while trying the ac the light does not blink until the engine rpms slow down. I appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks

if you heard a squeel that sounds like the compressor clutch locked up. replace the compressor

Yup. Replace compressor. But you should also have the system checked for leaks. You may need more components replaced (condenser, expansion valve, evap, lines, etc...) depending on what is discovered during an inspection and leak test. You will need to have system evacuated of refrigerant, system flushed, repairs made, system recharged and checked again for leaks.
