Actually, the valves pictured above are mine. I had ordered new valves from a wrecked Tacoma from California. While I was waiting for the new valves to arrive, I took them off and tried cleaning them. I don't know if the cleaning did any good or if maybe it was something as simple as an electrical connection to the valves that removing and reinstalling made a better connection and caused the valves operate correctly again.

I agree that it is an issue that Toyota should correct. The main reason for buying my last 4 Toyotas was the fact that they are normally very low maintenance. I just wanted to let others know that this may work for them, before taking it to the dealer. My dealer's service dept told me that the stalling would not have anything to with the error codes being read, and that I should have it towed 50 miles to their dealership. Would not tell me it the valves were covered under warrantee because they had no idea of what was causing it.
I guess they don't read these forums.

Any updates? Is your valve cleaning job still holding up?

Does anyone know if this air pump and switching valve are essential to the vehicle? If it is just an emissions thing, could the truck just run without it? If so, my mechanic says he would need the code to override the limp mode. How would I find the information to override it in the truck's computer? Thoughts?

My 2012 Tacoma went into limp mode and the diagnostics also say I need a new air pump and switching valve as well. Seems like a common problem for Tacomas.
