Hi, I need help with converting my Morimoto retrofit HID headlights to the new Morimoto LED complete headlight replacement. I looked at the wiring and the HID has "transformers" connecting to the bulbs. I think I need the OEM wiring harness to convert back to connect the LED's. I've been looking online and can't find any reference to buying the OEM harness. Any help with this would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Your truck will have the original harness still. What you're calling transformers are referred to as ballasts. Just unplug all of the HID stuff, you will find the original harness plug. Morimoto HIDs are plug and play with the original harness.

Thanks, I don't have the OEM headlight bulb connectors as they are now a molded part of the ballasts and go to the old HID bulbs. Am I missing an OEM pigtail or? Ill look again at the wiring bundle to see if I have the compatible connections as everting is zip tied under the left hand light housing.
    Thanks,
    Brian

One of the connectors going to your MotoControl box will be plugged into the original headlight connector. The other two cables from the MotoControl box go to each ballast. Each ballast then has a cable going to each ignitor, which are secured to the bulbs.

I had the "Ultimate headlight upgrade" before going to HID. I prefer the HIDs. Much cleaner cutoff and great output. Also, the headlight looks 10x better with the shrouds, halos, projectors, etc.

What is the reason for getting rid of your retrofits? I don't think the Morimoto LED headlights are very good. Pretty sure you'd be better off with the "Ultimate Headlight Upgrade", if you still have a set of original headlights.

    Thanks Audi403,
The reason I'm replacing the retrofit HID's is the previous owner did the conversion and over baked the OEM housings to separate the halves and they crazed and severely degraded within months of me purchasing the truck. I lived with that until the projector shrouds fell off inside the housings. I needed to replace them so went with the Morimoto LED. I just put the same system into my sons 16 Ram with excellent results and better than stock output.

That's too bad about the retros. I built mine myself and was super OCD about everything. I'm hoping they last many year for how much time I spent on them.

Goodluck with the new install. I highly recommend removing the bumper and the metal brace that goes across under the headlights. This way the install takes about 30 seconds to do each headlight and you don't need to risk scratching everything. It's well worth it, IMO.
