I've been hounding my local dealership about the fact they promised me ipod integration in my 2011 TRD Access Cab (with the 6-disc non-JBL sound system). They have agreed to either a) pay for an aftermarket ipod upgrade or b) upgrade to the 2012 TRD (same package, but with the low-end stereo with BT and USB port) for $4500 after taxes. I have 1600 miles on my Taco (that really is only four digits).

What would you do? They'll carry over the extended warranty to the new VIN, give me the protection package (undercarriage, paint, carpet) and let me choose the color I want. I get rid of the damned flux capacitor, but will have to add a sub if I want better sound. So...is the '12 worth $4500 over the '11? My gut says no, but I need some feedback to help me decide.

    Thanks, I appreciate the input.

Let me guess...you are 12 years old.

Who cares if people can see your interior....or if they like the exterior for that matter.........you buy a vehicle because its right for you.

They added some additional emissions garbage in the engine bay that may cause some possible placement issues....but that's a guess.

$4500 for the exact same truck except its a '12? No, not worth it if you look at what both of them are priced at - they only raised the invoice like $3-500 more than the previous year. I'd say tell them to lower that difference or you'll raise more hell than they can imagine. If you give them that much money they will be laughing their heads off at the double sale they got out of you. Dont let them win!

How do you guys come up with these comparisons? On a super white I get the storm trooper thing. But station wagon? Have you ever seen a station wagon before? :confused:Im waiting for the taco vender cart comparison next.

Removed badges, Tinted windows, Tube steps, Leveling lift, Brush Guard.
I have something in mind for the future that will take care of that and all the non 2012 believers, "BaB" (Big ass Brushguard).
The model I am looking at will fit on the 12 but it is for the 11 and I was told it will rub slightly on the bumper so I am holding off
for the new brushguard that will fit properly.

I'm interested in that rear view mirror with the temperature and compass display. Does anyone know if it also has the backup camera view in the mirror (or have pics they can provide) and a part number for the mirror?

I did a search of the thread but couldn't find the answer to my questions.

I prefer not having the temp isplay in the mirror.

When I'm concentrating on the camera in the mirror, it takes a second for me to refocus my eyes to actually look through the mirror part. If it also had a temp display, I would be concentrating on that too much and not on what's actually behind me.

I also prefer not having the distance display lines on the camera.

I thought it would be bothersome as well, but it's pretty unobtrusive. You can turn it off or change the color in the options, however.

The lines took some getting used to, though they are handy sometimes.

The bigger screen is nice and the camera does low light better as well. It is way better at night than the old one.

Thanks for the pictures - what are the buttons on the bottom? Are they for a garage door opener?

Yeah. Homelink or some such. My truck doesn't fit in the garage, so I can't speak very intelligently about it.

Monkeyboy, are you still liking the Nautical Blue? It is very hard to find pictures of that color. My order should be place in a few days and I'm still leaning toward that color. Any complaints?

Yeah, I really like it. It looks pretty awesome when the sunlight hits it right. The only real complaint is that if I neglect washing it, it really shows. But, the upside to that is I might actually be motivated to actually do it.

Yes the first 3 buttons on the bottom of the mirror are remotes, it said for garage doors, lights inside the house etc... I guess what ever you can sink it with.

I have the upgraded JLB Radio so the backup camera is in the display and not the mirror.

It's still the entune/Nav system right? Or is this just another stereo but with a touch screen. Sounds like a stupid question, but hey we question why Toyota does a lot of stupid things. Just passing the buck. :D
