You are correct assuming they installed it correctly. However, I have very little faith in that. At minimum, they could leave a loose wire that could be getting hit by a moving part (radiator fan) and therefore causing a cyclic "tick".

Or, just for fun, he could sit there and rev to redline for 10 minutes...

    I have trust issues

What remote start did you get? Just curiouse, I've been looking into Compustar. With the cost of some of these systems, I would have a little more confidense that it would be done right if done at a reputable company. If it's a $150 system at Pep Boys I would probably pass. There is a company near where I live that installs Compustar for around $650 depending on what you want with it, (reciever, alarm, different sensors, GPS ect.) They actually state on there web site that if your looking for a quick, cheap remote start than they are not the ones to look into and they take a lot of pride in there work. I'm not trying to sell them or advertise, but they seem like they really care about their work. What did you go with?

$500 for a Audiovox Pursuit installed AT the Toyota Dealership installed BY an Autosound employee, a company that is very popular in the area.

I am not 100% happy with the install quality or the device itself. It does everything is says it will do, but I wish it integrated with the factory remotes, or at minimum the factory keyless entry system (the quiet "beep" is replaced by the sound of the horn). It has a very bright blue LED mounted near the rear view mirror that blinks when the alarm is armed and holy crap...it lights up the whole truck. It's not necessary "bad", I just like everything to look very factory.

The installer scuffed up the black trim on the windshield installing the receiver, not very much, but I noticed. I should have asked if I could watch the entire install, but that often pisses techs off...

I'm the exact same way - I figure a little bit of extra effort to be sure you are getting the best product and installer will go a long way.

All in all, I think the sound you are hearing is pretty normal. Also keep in mind that you have the camera very close to the engine, so any noise (normal or not) is going to be exaggerated.

I agree, the blue is sharp. Also, I like the MGM but have read many complaints about how difficult it is too keep clean and that scratches show very easily on that color.

I ended up buying a 12 in superwhite....I love it.

Tow miles is just crazy! It's almost like they didn't even test drive it!

My 2011 had six on it and my 2007 had five on it.
