I have a gut feeling the 2012 Tacoma is not a redesign.

I think there will be some significant change. Not necessarily a redesign, I've been saving for a year and a half for this truck but if it doesn't have the new 4.0 dual VVTi, I don't know if I will purchase it. I think it is time for the new engine, and I'm confident toyota knows this too.

It's a sheet metal change (trying to get an answer on exactly what that means, i take it to mean a redesign - hoping it's similar to the forerunner) and it will have the dual vvti engine.

Because I'm fortunate enough to know someone from Toyota Corporate. In fact, I bought a 1st gen now, because I'm waiting the the 2012's. Not sure how long I'll wait after they're out to get one - probably depends upon the job situation and supply/pricing.

I'm thinking it may be similar to the 2001 model year changes, a new face and not much more. Maybe the new 4.0 dual VVTi, maybe not. :(

My next door neighbor is an engineer at the Georgetown Ky. plant, he's in Tupelo Miss for the next 6 months working with the new plant opening there. He told me the 2013 Taco will have the exact same front as the 4-Runner and will resemble the 4-Runner more than in the past.

This was my fear, not knowing for sure. Thats why I traded my 07 for the 11....this way I will have one of the last new " old" ones. And if it dont resemble the new 4 runner, I can always trade in a year or two..The values dont drop much on these. I think 2012 will be the same as the 11's with a possible engine upgrade. it will be interesting to see.

I heard from a dealer today that they received the ordering guide recently for the 2012 Tacomas and they will have still have the single VVT-i 4.0 V6. I'm in the don't believe dealers camp, however has anyone else heard anything lately? I certainly hope the dealer is wrong!

My local dealer said it has the new 4.0, FJ gauges and rugged interior flooring. The 4Runner front end a electronic rear window like the tundra. He said Radiant red would come back and there might be a leather option.

My brother-in-law is a dealer and said he expects it to change but it hasn't been publicly released yet and therefore no one knows anything but he would let me know when it comes out. I hear other people who know people higher up and may know info...we will all see soon...I hope.:gossip:

Monday dealer salesman hinted the redesign tacoma may be a minature Tundra.I think they know more than they will say. Those who like the bloated pig look may want to wait instead of getting a 2011.I would rather see a 4Runner look than a Tundra look.
