I would still trade all the supposed new stuff for a sunglasses holder and six speed auto.

Wonder how the hood will be changing. If the outline changes with the headlights and grille, it may be difficult to swap parts with '05-'11 Tacos.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet - you can already get a TRD Sport with heated Leather in Canada in the 2011s - but it's a $2k option, which makes aftermarket look tempting. It's quite possible the US models still won't offer a leather option imho.

If they went to the trouble of putting indicators in the mirrors on the Sport how much extra effort would it really have been to make them heated? That might have swayed me to wait but now I am less convinced, although I am intrigued by the waterproof seats - combine that with vinyl door panels and black carpet and the interior becomes a lot more practical as a truck. Anyone heard anything on what pricing might look like in Canada - I assume the raping will continue but you can hope...

Heated seats / factory leather was an option when I got my '09

Kinda funny to see leather heated seats with all-manual adjustments.

A lot is riding on what this minor redesign will look like! All the strange options codes and features that we may want and may not get wont matter if this thing looks awesome! And if they go with a tasteful aggressive boxy 4runner look, Im sold!

With the economy in the toilet, I don't care about appearance much anymore. I'm more likely to buy a new Tacoma for performance upgrades which Toyota doesn't seem to understand. I think most Tacoma loyalists feel the same way.

I agree with both of you. But people are still superficial and when if comes to vehicles a lot of buyers still buy whatever is new and cool looking. This is a big reason why the economy is where it is. And yes, it is totally ridiculous that the dual VVT-i V6 is not being offered. That V6 is offered in the 4runner, the Tundra, and the FJ, so they single out one model, the Tacoma, and continue to build the old 4.0 just for the Tacoma?

I'm pretty shallow myself. It has to be good looking, in addition to functional, fuel efficient, and fast. If I didn't care about looks, I'd get a frontier or worse a Mitsubishi Raider.

It's nice to get some concrete ideas on what is changing. I still want to see the full NA press release with photos and every gory detail. Now that I'm seriously considering buying new within the next 6 months or so, I'm very excited!!

so this definitely won't be 3rd gen, but 2.5
facelifts are fun but involves too many parts for conversions ;p

kind of funny but what i'm looking forward the most is being able to plug and play the new homelink switch.
by removing the sunglasses holder only makes sense that's where they'll put it, too bad they didn't include it as part of the auto dimm rearview mirrors way before this facelift...

An engine oil cooler... I wonder if their new front end design is blocking a bit of airflow and they did this to improve cooling a bit. And it only took toyota 7 years to add 2 more floor level cargo hooks. Who wants to bet they're plastic lol?

That's one thing I'll give the Frontier.....their bed rail tie down system is pretty badass. I've never had the cleats or track break in any of my Tacomas but they still seem chinsy.

But still a +1 for finally adding floor level tie downs in all four corners.

Thanks for posting up that pdf! Good to finally put some of the speculation to rest. Now if you just had a pic of the damn thing! ;)

I sure hope it is a styling improvement (not that the 2005-2011s are bad looking at all). The one 2011 Access Cab 4x4 2.7L/manual (which is the config I am wanting) left in Phoenix dealer inventory sold recently (I had gone to test drive it a couple months ago before deciding to wait for the 2012s... but I kept an eye on it both on the lot and online)... so even if I wanted to get a 2011 I'm up a creek (unless I opt for a different config, which I don't want to do). I specifically decided to wait on the 2012s and passed on that 2011 (actually I was hoping that since it was pretty much a base-model that it wouldn't sell and that it would still be around on the lot when the 2012s came out and maybe (if the 2012s didn't capture my fancy) I could get a screamin' deal on it during the year end close out.

But now if the 2012s turn out fugly I am screwed!!!!!! :D

Anyway, can't wait to see what these things are gonna look like. I just hope they get it out before interest rates go up too far. I'll be pissed if the 2012 costs me a ton more because the gov't can't get their shite straight and cause rates to go wild! Right now I can get 4.5% on a new truck from my credit union (hoping Toyota Financial can do even better when the time comes). We'll see I guess....

Anyway, thanks again for the pdf!:headbang:
