Yeah I agree, They dont want anything stealing the camry's thunder. After all it is the number one car or something. Now will it be before or after???

Suddenly the Camry is ugly? They didn't change anything. It looks the fucking same, like it has for the past 15 years. They just did the usual headlight and front grille change.

Correct, and I don't know if I like the front grille and headlight changes.

It looks a little too Acura'ish to me.

Looks like they changed the taillights, the trunk deck lid, and the fog lights too. I'm sure there will be some interior changes as well like ENTUNE just like the taco....but maybe the camry gets a new engine..haha

I have been checking this forum like 10 times a day for the past 2 weeks, I can't wait to see what the 2012 looks like. I actually wanted to ask some opinions on whether or not other members think now is a good time to get a 2011 for a good price, because I'm sure that dealers know the 2012's are coming. I would rather save a thousand or two and get a 2011 for a good deal. OR should I wait until the 2012's hit the lot in october, and buy what is leftover. Thanks

At this point, I would wait until the pics of the new Tacoma comes out.

I absolutely love my 2011 and can honestly say, out of six Toyota's, it's my favorite. But, everybody wants the latest and the greatest. You just need to decide whether it's going to be worth the extra money to go with the newest model, or if you'd rather save the money and go with the 2011's.

September 4th pics and specs of the 2012 tacoma will be out. If you don't believe me you'll just have to wait and see. This is from my contact at Toyota and when the embargo is lifted.

hi 4x4FINK, thanks for your reply, I know I would definitely rather save money. My main incentive to get a new one now because I will be without a car until october, although I do not need one at the very moment, and can wait til October.

The embargo agreement is Toyota's trade agreement with the US to sell their product in the country. If the Embargo agreement is set to end Sep 4, this means there will no longer be negotiations to sell the product, and it will have passed what ever the US set as the requirement to sell in the country. What I get from this is that if the US hasn't officially said Toyota can sell the product in this country, Toyota can not announce it's the new truck just in case they for some reason have to make changes.

I'd like to say thanks for posting the AOL email not only for the useful information contained in the text, but almost equally grateful that I don't have to look at this thread on the home page and see a cat puking on itself.

Actually I believe they are referring to the media embargo on info and images of the Tacoma. A manufacturer will release info early to various media sources so they can meet their deadlines and release info simultaneously when a new vehicle debuts. In return they agree not to release anything early

Here's another article confirming the exterior and interior change for the 2012 Tacoma:

    http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110801/OEM04/308019977/1128

This article also mentions the telematics which I believe to be Entune. Still wish they would have spent their time putting the updated 4.0 in the truck with a 6sp auto instead.

Given the choice between updated sheet metal, updated interior and Entune OR the updated 4.0 (that is already designed and in use) and a 6 speed auto. I would take the updated powertrain every time!

But what do I know I'm just the potential customer! (yes, I'm bitter)
