If it is in fact a media embargo and they are waiting to release all the info at once to include the commercial and official pics...someone get out there at take some spy pics because they are probably making commercials like the camry. You can see the photos of the camry, they are taking through the grass from a distance...we need some!:spy::spy::spy:

That article basically says they quickly changed some stuff to make up for the quality/gas pedal issues.

    Powertrain or bust.

Hell yes there is a difference, i have both a 2011 4 runner and a 2011 dbl cab trd and i am averaging less than 18 in my truck and over 21 in the 4runner. the one complaint i have a bout the newer engine in the 4runner is the gearing if i cross 70mph in the 4runner the mpg drops by 1-2 mpg. 6th gear would be nice for that other than that i am very very happy with the new engine it is far more responsive and smoother than the 2009 4runner sport i traded in on it. i dont think my comparing it to my tacoma is accurate though as my taco has the trd supercharger so i will be getting lower mpg anyway.

Not only that, but according to that e-mail, if it is legit, the embargo isn't going to be lifted until September 4th.

They did the same thing as in '01 when they updated some sheet metal and left the powertrain the same.

I just called a big toyota dealer in Baltimore and he said starting yesterday I could order a 2012 Tacoma but he doesn't know when pics will be released lol. I didn't get into the whole thing with him but thought it was funny.

They might as well take a dump on the hood and call it an update if they're not touching the powertrain. I know its good and long lasting, but its from '04. In 2011 toyota can surely offer us better.

I'm leasing so I need to keep this a secret.
Are we SURE that it won't get the dual vvti 4.0L? If not, I will offer on a 2011 tomorrow. What about wheels?

At this point id be willing to bet that we keep the same exact engine simply so they can piss me off. And im pretty sure the wheels will still be round :)

I heard they were gonna skip the 2012's and go right to the 2013's due to the tsunami
