actually the poster could be correct. with various parts being sourced from various vendors, the disruption of some parts from Japan could've caused excess inventory of other parts. however, often the vendor/supplier is required to essentially hold the inventory. fact is, it's just too hard to say why. i've asked someone who knows, but i'm not hearing back from them and i'm not friends enough with them to push for the info... hoping i will hear from him though.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
a dakota is the same size and it has/had a v8 option.

toyota also built the incross concept w/ the 4.7 v8 in it. (not that it would ever come to light)

Low expectations will get you nowhere. I want a power plant in my truck to match the one in my pants.. six is ok for the kids but 8 is man size... Jim

What you really need is a V12, to make up for the lack of a power plant in your pants! Little Jimmy

If you really need a V8, then pick up a Tundra. You would have two choices of V8 that are over 300hp.

Or if 300hp is the magical number you want in a Tacoma, get the TRD supercharger (304hp).

nothing to do with expectations. a v8 isn't really needed. again, get a tundra or a dodge dakota if you feel the need to compensate.

still an example of a v8 in a midsized truck none the less. toyota would sell plenty of tacos in a 4.6L v8 option.

i've pulled a few trailers/boats behind my truck and it's pretty bad when i can feel a 17' john boat behind it slowing me down and killing power.

Because my husband hated the way the dealer treated us when we brought it in for regular maintenance. They lied to us and told us we needed to pay for repairs on problems that didn't exist and that warranty wouldn't cover it. There never was an issue with that truck.

Each time it was brought in for an oil change, they always said there something "wrong" with the truck. One said I needed a whole new suspension. One said I needed to replace the bed. After being treated that way 3 times, my husband said that the way to not have to deal with them is to sell the truck. So he traded it in. The truck was so clean and in good condition that all we lost on it was $2k from original purchase price and it was 2 years old with 18k miles on it.
