How bout some new info to get us back on topic:

I spent about 2 hours talking to the truck sales manager at the biggest Toyota dealership in VA.......Priority Toyota in Virginia Beach, VA.........and received word that the Tacoma will be getting its complete redesign for MY2013 which is basically the 4-Runner with a bed. It will include the dual vvti and a possible 6 speed auto. He said some "elements" would be incorporated into the 2012 such as the front end we've all been hearing about and some dash changes to also include Entune. I actually got him to pull up his inventory allocation and printed me off what the window sticker will say when the truck gets here mid-September. The sticker reads the same (it was a TRD sport DC, LB) except for the Entune which reads as a 6.1" touch screen navi & JBL, 7 speakers including sub.

The package options looked all the same except for the Entune. So it looks like we're getting the same truck with some added interior features and minor sheet metal changes. The year to wait for is 2013 unfortunately. I have worked with/bought from this dealer before and there credibility is solid. He is going to call me the second the new one comes on the lot next month for a test drive. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Also, he said the photochopped pic (Krookz) of the red 4-Runner made to look like the next Tacoma was pretty accurate for what's to come in 2013.

Sorry for the bad news guys. More waiting.........

Front mudflaps removed, Access LE soft tonneau cover, Weathertech digital floor mat, Weathertech window deflectors, Weathertech license plate frames. future plans = diamond plate tailgate mod, Venture Shield, TRD supercharger...the dream goes on and on....
Where did he get info about 2013? As a former salesman of Toyota, we wouldn't find out about many products redesign until a month or so before they showed up at the dealership. The 2005 or 2006 avalon is a perfect example. I'm learning salesman/dealerships opinion are like buttholes...everyone has one and they all stink. But no disrespect, just want to understand his source. Dealership speculation or grounded in fact from Toyota product development?

True...I have found the most salesmen know way less than what I already knew from research before I even got on the lot.......they know the basics about the whole toyota line.....if that. And you are right, it could all just be this manager's speculation. But he told me that he received this info from the June 29th meeting that he attended that we've all heard about. He's seen pictures but like everyone else, wasn't given any........just shown. He said 2012 would be a transition year for the Tacoma to become more like a truck version of the 4-Runner.

Side note: The FJ isn't discontinued. There won't be many on the lots......just like now.......but will be available with no changes for 2012.

I agree with SAIRS. I doubt that sales manager guy actually knew what he was talking about - I have no doubt he believed he did, but what he thinks is true because he's a manager and therefore privy to super secretz, and what is actual truth, are far from the same thing. And to believe that he has magic knowlege of MY2013 when info on 2012 is still in limbo is a joke if you ask me.

I'm skeptical. But I will believe it when I see pics/spec sheets!

I'm just adding my 2 cents like everybody else guys. Dealer speculation is more apt to be somewhat accurate versus the forum speculation that has been rambling for 50 pages.

MY13 aside, I have the window sticker (minus MSRP) printout which confirms our fears.......same engine and tranny.........and added Entune. The look of the front end will show itself next month.

And......just my opinion from driving all three (Tacoma, FJ, and 4-Runner) the weight to hp/ftlb ratio is pretty consistent. The FJ has 24 more horse than Tacoma but weighs 200-300 pounds heavier and the 4-Runner has 34 more horse than the Tacoma but weighs something like 500-600 pounds more. There were slight difference but I've driven all of them brand new and there isn't much difference. If the new Tacoma gets the dual vvti and new tranny, the weight will likely go up and we won't know the difference. So really the only advantage is gas mileage........which can be significant to some but not to others. If you've got the means to drive a 30K truck then why are you worried about getting 3-4 extra miles/gal. on average? Just sayin

Given that the last dates we saw have the Production Start-Up Date as 10/1/11, did he care to explain how he was going to have one on the lot before they even started production on them?

    Just curious.

All due respect.....analyzing one's speculation with another's speculation doesn't make much sense either. Everybody throws dates and timelines around......who knows when it will actually show up. The guy was probably hyping things up a bit.......I'm sure the truck will show up in Oct.

The whole point was I'm confirming the lack of upgraded v6 and tranny for 2012 and I've seen that Entune is in fact going to be in the Tacoma.

I can on Monday when I have access to a scanner. It looks the same as any other sticker info would for a DC TRD sport LB except for the "Display Audio with Navigation, EntuneTM and JBL: Includes 6.1" touch screen, 7 JBL speakers with subwoofer" and then goes on to talk about the normal XMradio and bluetooth etc. etc.

I understand - I just find it odd that thousands of people are trying to find solid information on the Tacoma and you just so happen to have the window sticker.

    Looking forward to seeing it.

No problem....I'll get it scanned on Monday.

And just to reiterate......its the info that will be on the typical window sticker.......not the actual window sticker itself........the paper is labeled Vehicle Inquiry Report.
