I'm not gonna lie, with my excited frustraion i'm looking forward to the speculation coming true. With no real solid info on the 2012 until June of this year only to come out "supposedly" in September 3 months later, how confident are you in 2013 info? I'm not doubting, just curious. I don't know where you are at in your vehicle purchase decision, but if what you know may be true, would you be confident in waiting another entire year for what your dealer told you? I'm really asking to solidify my vehicle purchase decision. I want the Entune but would love the Dual VVTi but not sure i'm willing to wait another year.

Toyota wouldn't do a minor major update a year before a new generation comes out. My contact at Toyota who has given all the info so far that has proven to be credible said we are at least 3 years out from a next generation redesign. I know you're just repeating what the dealer told you but I am still calling dealers who say the truck is identical, no sheetmetal update so they obviously don't have a clue.

The info posted a few pages back from Toyota's website about the October date is not when it'll be on the lots, but when production is supposed to *start*.

First deliveries (according to their website... if it is to be believed) aren't scheduled until Dec. So if your dealer friend is telling you about them being on the lot next month I take that as I sign that he really doesn't know any more than any of us.

Sorry... not trying to be a douche... just pointing out that what he has said conflicts with what is on the Toyota website and therefore is just as suspect as anything else.

The sheet he gave you may well be legit from an ordering perspective, but any other *speculation* of his is just as highly suspect (since it conflicts with Toyota's website) as any other we've heard in the past 49 pages. :(

I'm leasing so I need to keep this a secret.
Wel... I'm going with a 2011 as the discounts are great and if the engine is going to be same then I am going to pull the trigger and spend the money I saved on a lift kit and tires (better then a new grill anyway). Wish me luck guys!

I agree that all this misinformation is confusing all of us and getting everyone's panties in a bunch, but it seems several people have mentioned that the truck will be on certain lots by September. I've been in contact with a local Toyota dealer fleet sales manager (cause with the Costco Auto program, everything goes through that person) and she stated a late September-ish arrival too. I know the website says Oct production date, but who knows? Is it possible Toyota is playing games with us too??

On a side note, since I've been in touch with the fleet manager, she did say the new Taco will be incorporated into the Costco Auto Program! YAY! The pricing comes down to anywhere between couple hundred below invoice to several hundred. I guess that's the agreement Toyota has with Costco. They're supposed to sit down and show you their invoice and no haggles, thats it.

Another side note, I asked her to "preference" (have it sent to her lot) the 2012 DC/LB/4x4/TRD Sport w/all the bells and whistles and told her to please look into the Entune option. She came back saying:

"The official word from Toyota is that the Entune/Navigation is going to be offered on the 2WD LONG Bed Sport Package vehicle to start. We already have the first one allocated but so far there are no plans to put this on the short bed 2WD or any 4WD yet. This can change, of course, but we're hearing that having it available on the Tacoma is more as a trial, with the focus more on our cars such as Prius and Camry."

LAME!!! (if it IS true) we've proven time and again through 50 pages of posts so far, that what is solid info from one dealership is complete crap to another. So the waiting game continues...

programs like the costco one are good in that they simplify the process. you can generally get it lower than that if you know what you're doing, but not enough lower to worry about it.

Dude....This is going to piss me off. I will remain calm, but if they don't change the 4.0 but offer ENTUNE, I would like them to offer it on the truck I want to buy (TRD Sport DCLB). A couple body changes are fine, but if nothing else changes WTF is the reason to do any updates if the truck is nearly exactly the same? Seats and carpet? The seats you can get aftermarket too. If Toyota is going to have new technological advancements they should put them in the damn vehicles not just the F'ing Prius V (v stands for versitility) a holes.

Sorry, just venting. My frustration builds, but I keep telling myself...I'll find out officialy from Toyota soon enough. I appreciate all this info but I'm sure i'm not the only one that would be pissed if they didn't offer their new crap in the 4x4 trucks.

Yeah I agree with you guys........I guess I got a little excited when I found someone who seemed confident with what he was saying. Funny thing is he wasn't pushing me to go ahead and buy an '11 which seemed odd to me.

Who knows...........maybe they'll make a 4th Transformers movie and they'll debut the next gen Taco. I can't think of a cool name but a transforming Tacoma would be badass!! lol

Well unless GM buys Toyota, I don't think you'll ever see a Tacoma in a Transformers flick.

What exactly is etune anyway? isnt it a monthlyh service? I'm not super stoked to have to pay a monthly service for anything in my car. Just isnt something I'm interested in at all. If they made it mandatory I would buy a 2011!

If it's gonna look like this then they better be packing some serious new features in it.
