I don't know if you read my post earlier in the thread about me talking to my dealership and Costco pricing, but the fleet director just emailed me on the 17th saying:

"I did get a Magnetic Gray 4WD Tacoma allocated yesterday and I'm going to go into the system on Friday and try to "build" it with the Entune. Toyota here in the LA region is opening up the models that will be able to be built with it, so I'll let you know what happens.

You have NO chance of getting Radiant Red. That color has not been on a Tacoma for a few years now. Even the darker Barcelona Red is only available on a few select models. I think if I have any success in changing this Tacoma I have coming to Entune, you should jump all over it as we already know that a very small percent of trucks will be available with the system!

I'll keep you posted. Still no pricing yet, but of course once that's announced, I'll pass it on."

So if she's allocating the truck now, that means it's gotta be coming in soon-ish I assume.. unless she really has me duped.. in an earlier email she stated a late September "on the lot" date. I guess we'll see in time.

Oh, and as for the whole rad red thing, I just wanted to push to see if it was possible to get the truck rad red from the factory. I guess that was her polite way of saying it ain't happening... oh, well.. all one can do is ask right?

Edit: In the subject section of the email, she put "Tacoma 7596 model located!" do you guys know what the 7596 model is? and does it include the TRD sport package? or is that different? She better not be pullin the old bait 'n switch with me!

No updates unfortunately. I sent an email to ask, but have not heard anything. I'm waiting until the drivetrain is updated. MY guess is next year, that this is only MY guess - since it was their original plan to change the engine this year. Obviously something happened to change their mind. Of course, that assumes they don't change it this time - I'm only going by links here, some of which have been quotes from Toyota, so I'll assume they're correct.

If he is right, I'm gonna hold off for a bit. Maybe I will buy a Supra then a taco. Decisions decisions.

Yes I do. I was editing it. Then someone posted before I was done editing. I don't know how that happened.

How sweet would it be if Toyota surprised us with dual vvti at the 2012 debut?

That would be an Apple marketing maneuver... Carefully "leaking" false information to get people talking (possibly disappointed), then blow people away with the real deal.

Unfortunately, Apple has perfected this while pretty much no other companies come close. I'm afraid we're in for no such excitement.

That would be soo damn sweet if all the hard facts and good investigative work was all wrong and I could just dream of picking up my Spruce Mica, 4.0 Dual VVI, 6 speed automatic this year but sob:(...... I think I'm goin to havta make due with my '99 Taco for another year maybe more. It makes too much sense that Toyo wouldn't shoot there complete load on 2012 when they could string it out over the next 2>3 years before the complete re-design. I am planning a cruise out of Galveston so I'm goin to tour the Toyo plant in San Antonio because I figured this was the year I pull the trigger and see my truck come down the line.......this is driving me nuts u sonsabitches jsut make the thing so I can buy it.

Pretty talented stuff right there. When I bust it all comes out. No chance in hell I'm going to be able to save some of it for later.

I hate it when there's only a partial nut bust.

I'm in the same boat bear2012. I have a 97 4unner, I've been waiting years for this 2012 and then we get this partial nut bust. Super irritating.

I don't really care what the friggin tacoma looks like. ALL I WANT IS THE GAWD DAMN DUAL VVTI. JUST PUT THE DAMN THING IN THE TRUCK. HOW HARD IS IT? Just put it in, just do it. It can be butt ass ugly, I'll still buy it as long as it has the dual vvti.

Yep I have to agree with you on that one...I'd like to the dual VVTI now...maybe like people have said they have been withholding info and leaking the false info to build the hype up. We might be seeing the available builds next week from what I've heard...

cool.. Thanks! much appreciated. quick question though.. that code has nothing to do with trd sport/off road packages right? It doesn't change if it has any of the special packages? I tried looking at toyota's website but couldn't get the answer to that.

The TRD Sport package would show up on the window sticker on the vehicle with a two letter code next to it as an option. It has been a long time so I can remember what the code was. I want to say "PE" or something like that. The four digit number 7596 will be for all 4x4 dbl cab long bed configurations regardless of it being a TRD Sport or not.
