I have a 2012 Tacoma PreRunner (RWD). Currently I have a 4” block lift and I am looking to get a 3-4” suspension lift, the lift kit I was looking at is the Rough Country 3.5” Inch Lift Kit (link below). I’ve found that most of the lift kits say 4WD specific, and the website says that there will be fitment issues. So I was wondering if they only work on a 4WD truck or if they will fit on my truck. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I'd stay well away from that 3.5" RC lift . Being RWD, you have no front CVs to worry about, but there's still the strain & wear it puts on your steering rack due to the angles it puts your tie rods (and the rest of your front suspension) at.

Lets see some pics of this lift... (did you buy the truck with the lift already on it?) I'm trying to picture what a "block lift" that is 4" would be if this is also including front blocks or spacers.

The MaxTrac 4" spindle lift might actually be the best option for you (maybe with a 3" lift rear leaf spring + 1" block upgrade in place of the 3" or 4" or however tall block it is Maxtrac gives you).

Thank you so much for the input it is much appreciated. Some more info about the truck, I bought the truck already lifted, and it actually has the MaxTrac 4” spindle lift, I’ve looked more into it and am leaning more toward just getting leaf springs rather than a full suspension kit, because I currently have the stock springs with a block, and the block is causing the leaf spring to sit straight (shown below).

I was looking at getting the Old Man Emu ARB EL112R leaf springs, would that be a good choice? My main goal is to eliminate the block in the rear. Again thank you very much for the input and advice.

Nice truck! Give those headlights a good polishing and it'll probably look almost new (certainly it would in that pic).

Yeah, you got a good setup up front then.
That rear block actually looks a lot less than 4", so it should be easy to boost that up and get some of the factory rake back.

Lots of people run the OME leafs and are happy with them.
I have the Icon RXT leafs myself... I like the RXT because you can configure the leaf pack three ways for three different lift heights (up to 3" IIRC)/three different load carrying capacities.
If you find either of those is not quite enough, then 1" blocks will give you that last inch (reason for the 1" block suggestion is because there aren't any full 4" lift leaf springs I know of other than to have ones custom-made, which I'm sure is $$$$$). 1" blocks should not cause issues like ones over 2" can.

Post up some pics of the front. As stated that’s definitely not a 4” block in the rear measure it. Are you wanting the truck level?

That looks like the standard 2" block that comes with the maxtrac lift spindles.

Keep in mind that on a stock truck, the front is lower than the rear. So a 4" Lift in front with a 2" Lift in the rear will bring the nose up and level out the truck.

Your stock springs are gone. Get a new leaf pack that will give you about 2" of lift more than stock and you won't need the block.

Fyi: 4" Lift blocks do not look like what's in your photo.

I would highly recommend against the dakars. They are just shitty leafs (I have many reasons that I won't get into). I couldn't wait to get rid of mine and my Deavers ride like a Cadillac in comparison. And absolutely do not get the heavy duty pack for a stock weight truck unless you like having your back tires buck all over the road like an empty trailer.

I'm guessing you were looking at that option because of the price. You 100% get what you pay for with leaf springs and that if you cheap out there will be compromises in ride quality. If you can stretch the budget and get Deavers or Archive leafs, do it. If you must keep the price low, look at Dobinsons. They aren't great but at least they won't be "W" shaped and ride like dump truck from day 1. But I would try to at least get Icon RXT.

Thank you all for the help, I probably just misheard the previous owner when he was talking about the lift, my budget right now is probably closer to the Icon RXT’s which is probably what I will be going with because I like how they’re adjustable, and I do not plan to have any load so i’ll just be driving with the stock weight. If I want my truck to sit level, would I need a block with the leaf springs?

If you only have the 4" Lift Spindles up front, then a rear leaf pack that will give you ~2" of lift will level out the truck.

I don't have the icon rxt leaf pack but I believe it will provide about 2" of lift.

My RXTs are set up Option 1. When I first put them on, they gave a little over 2" lift under my '18 ACLB (2¼", thereabouts). After 8K or so miles and some abuse, they've now settled to maybe 1⅞". I would assume Opt. 2 adds about ½" to that, and Opt 3 yet another ½". Of course the spring rate gets stiffer with each higher option too, so with no weight in the bed on Opt. 3 might ride a bit rough.

I'd suggest play with them on Opt 1 or 2, and if you need more lift past that, add to it whatever you need using blocks (up to 2" tall blocks should be fine).
