    Hi all,

I recently bought a used 2012 Tacoma with a regular cab and an auto transmission. The airbag light and slip indicator light are on and were on then i bought it.

I was reading around some threads and have tried resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery and running a calibration by jumping pins 4 and 12 on the obd2 port. I am getting a C2123 (tire pressure Monitor), U0129 (lost communication with break system control module) and U0100 (lost communication with ECM/PCM "A" and lost communication with EV ECU) NO codes in the airbag modules. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?

What are peoples thoughts was this little truck a huge waist of money and a future money pit? It runs great and shifts even better. When I changed the diff oil it was clearly used but in a good condition same with a small(3qt) aft fluid change.

I'd start with checking all the fuses, might be as simple as a blown or missing fuse.

I looked at all of the fuses. All of them seem good. There was clearly some questionable wiring work near the interior fuse box. Hopefully a bad electrical connection somewhere. But given my luck it will probably be a bad ECU. I also got another random code for instrument cluster communications.

I'd definitely look into that wiring and also check around for corrosion or water intrusion under the dash and seats but you may have to find someone who knows their way around a scope and data buses to figure out the communication issues.
The TPMS code is probably dead or missing sensor(s) in the wheels.

I followed this video instead of another and it reset the slip indicator and the abs codes.

Now all I have is a u0129 code and a b1660 not sure why the b1660 wasn't showing up before may have something to do with my cheep scan tool. I'm having some trouble identifying the b1660 some people say its the passenger seat sensor. Some say its the driver seat sensor. Even other things say maybe the clock spring and another says the passenger airbag indicator light (the indicator works as it should as of now).

Any good ideas for direction on this one.

I will try to disconnect all connectors and clean any of them when I get a chance this weekend.

Also the tpms code disappeared. Odd I think.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I think you can get a new clock spring under warranty and I had a bad LF impact sensor. Good luck!

Heres the troubleshooter for the B1660 code.

I had the airbag light on my truck for awhile. Looked at everything. Turned out, I just needed to recalibrate the passenger occupant seat sensor and the issue went away. Allegedly, if I fixed it myself, I would have downloaded a copy of Techstream and calibrated it myself. Allegedly, I may have done that. I’ll let you go down that rabbit hole bc I do not remember but hopefully that points you in the right direction

So now I have an intesting one. I cleared the codes B1660 and u0129 and they never showed up again but also the airbag light never turned off. I have used multiple scanners to look for codes but none are shown. What does that mean?

Can the hard codes from crash detection written to the module be read by a generic reader (aka not toyotas software)? In theory would I just need the airbag module sent out to reset?

I'm really starting to get out of the area I'm used to working with. But honestly that fine you gotta learn it sometime.

If the airbag light is on there should be a code stored, I can't say about what scanner can read it as scanner capabilities vary greatly.
The only scanners I have experience with are the SnapOn Verus Pro, Solus Edge, and Autel MS908bt, never had any issues reading codes on anything as long as the modules communicate.
