    Hello all!

Truck cranks for a long time before actually starting. Just started doing this a week ago. If I push the gas pedal down a little when starting it fires right up. New starter, new Spark plugs and air filter about 2 months ago. Runs fine with no problem and doesn't stall. I did not clean the throttle body or attempt to do anything with the fuel filter or pump until I can narrow the issue down. I've heard the fuel filter is in the tank? Any insight to what my problem may be? Thanks for any help!

Haven't tested it with a meter but it's less than a year old. Truck cranks fine, just takes long time to fire up

Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
MAF and throttle body cleaner for each. Spray liberally.
Be careful with that uvula looking thing on the MAF, don't touch it.
The throttle body will probably be open a bit, don't worry about it. I take mine off to for cleaning and after spraying it down, I take a rag wet with cleaner and wipe down the butterfly and get into the tight spaces at the butterfly and the bore. I don't try to move the butterfly itself, I don't want to strip the gears inside.
After you put it back together and start it, it'll idle high then start working it's way back down to a normal idle. That's what it does for me...

Edit: you don't mention what engine you have, I have the V6. Ymmv

My bet is on the starter. Where did you get it? Was it reman'd? I've heard that it's hit or miss on reman'd starters. Not sure what you have so I'll link both: http://www.customtacos.com/tech.old...6toyrm/06toypdf/06rmsrc/rm2006ta/02200110.pdf, http://www.customtacos.com/tech.old...6toyrm/06toypdf/06rmsrc/rm2006ta/02300110.pdf

Start with the battery first before you go to the starter. It could be your starter relay too but that would be coincidental.

    Hello OP,

Do you hear the fuel pump start priming when you turn the key to the ON position? Also try waiting about 10 sec or so with the key in the ON position before starting the truck. Does this change how long it takes for the truck to start? Just trying to narrow things down.

I would suspect the throttle position sensor.

Does it do this on cold or warm startups?

    Hello,

Yes I tried that. I waited the 10 seconds and it didn't make a difference nor do I hear anything but to be honest I don't think I ever have.
