A truck with a supercharger will never be a sports car...but if you wanna sell go for it. At the end of the day its still a truck that has a little extra umph...

I've got an 800rwhp Turbo BMW that keeps me happy when I want to play :)

Still no emails back so the guy must be on vacation as he usually gets back to me fairly quick.

In case nobody noticed the part numbers for the Supercharger Main Unit are the same as previous years so... everyone order your superchargers cause the fit kit will be released shortly!

Not like we didn't already know it would be the same unit but at least we now have full verification!

I will be ordering mine at the end of the month. What is a fair price to pay for the supercharger and fit kit.

And how much for dealer install is fair?

$4500 for super charger +fit kit and expect $600-$1000 for install. Expect total price to be around $5000-$5500.

You shouldn't spend more than $4,000 for the supercharger and fit kit. I got mine through TRDParts4U for $3,900 shipped. Dealers in my area were quoting 1300-1600 for install so I chose to do it myself over a weekend.

Only problems with that is it won't be under warranty.

It has to be dealer installed and ordered to be under warrenty

Very true, it just didn't seem worth the money to me and I don't trust my local dealerships at all. Every time my truck is in one I find something else wrong the second I get it back home.

I am a decent mechanic have done minor engine stuff suspensions and drivetrains swaps. How hard is the install if all tools are available? Would it be something that someone with moderate mechanical sense could do?

If you can change a serpentine belt and replace fuel injectors and spark plugs you will be able to install one. The directions are pretty easy to follow and SManZ did a picture how-to of the install with great directions. When I installed mine the two hardest parts were getting the crankshaft bolt off and actually getting the blower to fit on top of the engine as it is a tight fit with all of the vacuum lines and wiring.

So installing the SC kit yourself will shorten the warrenty on the SC and associated parts. If you install the SC yourself how will this effect the vehicles existing powertrain warrenty or an extended warrenty?

The way warranty coverage works with the S/C is pretty simple:

If installed by dealer the S/C is covered by the remainder of your powertrain and/or extended warranty.

If not installed by a dealer the S/C is covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles and your factory warranties stay intact.

Basically, if you want the S/C covered under your powertrain or extended warranty you will need to have it installed by the dealer.

Nowhere, anywhere does it say you have to purchase the hardware from the dealer in order to get the warrantee. You just have to have the dealer install it.... which I am still on the fence about.

That's true on the parts but typically the dealer will not provide a warranty on parts that are not from an authorized dealer. When I was first talking to dealers about the install and I told them I already had the parts some of them wanted to see a receipt from where I bought it from to ensure that they were truly genuine parts.

I get it, sure... but isn't TRDparts4U.com an authorized dealer? And are the S/C's not serialized? Not trying to be a smartass, but I see no need to spend a few extra hundred just to fatten a stealership.

TRDparts4U is an authorized dealer. They're based out of Dallas and the invoice you get with your shipped items has the dealer's logo on it. You shouldn't have a problem with anything from them.
