Has anyone seen information on recommended minimum mileage before installing the S/C? I wouldn't think that it would matter too much, but is it better to give the engine time to break in? I was planning on waiting to at least 10,000 mi, but that's going to be tuff depending on release date.

Any updates on the release date???

    this is the warranty...

Toyota.com shows a TRD supercharger listed as available accessory for 2012 tacomas with the saw part for all Tacoma years with a 4.0 V6.

the "fit kit" might be the only part that has some changes.

    Right.

Where does it state that I have to PURCHASE the s/c from the dealer? All I see is that the dealer must INSTALL the s/c for the warrantee to be honored.

IOW, if I buy the s/c from an authorized dealer (trdparts4u.com... Really Toyota of Dallas), then I should be able to give it to my local dealer for install with no ache.

Show me where it says I MUST purchase the part from the installing dealer?

Checked Southeast Toyota's warehouse and the fit kit is STILL not available. Get off your ass Toyota and get this going. The truck has been out for 6 months now.

You do not have to purchase it from a dealer nor do you have to have a dealership install it for it to be warrantied

You don't have to purchase it from a dealer or have them do the install. You get a warranty either way. BUT if you don't have it installed by a Toyota dealer then the warranty is 12 months if the purchase and install is done by a Toyota dealer then the supercharged warranty is equal to the remainder of your power train 5/60 warranty. Which to me is worth the extra money.

    WRONG

    From the TRD site

"The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for the complete supercharger with fit kit is $4,500. The warranty is the same as the Toyota Powertrain Warranty of up to y years or 60,000 miles or the remainder of the powertrain warranty at the time of the installation when installed by a Toyota dealer. Installations by anyone other than a Toyota dealer carry a 12 month/12,000 mile parts only warranty. Please see the warranty section of TRD site for details."

I'm beginning to think that someone at Toyota is just yanking everyones chain about the whole supercharger thing. The truck has been out for 6 months now and still nothing but empty promises. The fit kit and reflash is supposedly all that is different and they can't seem to release it. It is a different excuse every few weeks. CARB reguations, emissions labels, etc. The whole thing seems like a big case of false advertising as the supercharger was advertised as an available option. I'll believe it is an option only when I see it and not until but I am not holding my breath.

    The better coast
They change one thing which effects another thing to make it not entirely legal to be used out on the streets. You want to speed up the process? How about you spend the money to pay for all of the research and engineering.

There is quite a lot of bitching about the release date. I hope it makes you guys feel better because it sure as hell won't speed things up .

The updates I've posted have come directly from the top of TRD themselves...I'll shoot another email and see what the holdup is...from what I understand we're just waiting for distribution of the fit kit in warehouses before TRD gives the go ahead to begin sales.

Detective Dan I wasn't referring to that part you state 12 month 12,000 miles for dealer install or private party install. This is only for guys without an existing warranty. Me who has a brand new truck and everyone posting in this thread because it's a 2012 supercharger thread we get the added coverage of untill our warranty expires. or 6 years 60K

    Good detective work!

Also, I'm pretty sure that if you purchased an extended warrantee (for example, 8 years / 100K), the s/c should be covered by that as well. IF the dealer installs it.
