Filters that flow more (for a given size) don't filter as well. Any air filter that I can see daylight through will not get anywhere near my engine. I've seen plenty of dusted intakes downstream of K&N filters.

The dirtier a filter is, the better it works (to a point). On my street driven vehicles, I can't remember the last time I changed an air filter. My silverado might still be the original with 140K miles. The restriction indicator is still in the green so no point in changing it.

I've been using a afe dry washable filter for a couple years and I drive mostly dusty bush roads and it works great and you can wash it, no oiling to mess up your maf sensor either.

fair enough. In my other vehicles, I’ve only ran the K&N cone style filters at the end of CAI without this problem. Then again the filter and MAF are several feet and twists/turns apart. Imagine I’d find the insides of the piping lined with this oil, but fortunately never made it to my MAF

For the record, I just ran a Blackstone oil analysis, and my engine with 190,000 miles is fine.

This is the way. There are no performance gains to be made here. Move along.

Was about to ask about peoples experiences w/ the AFE Prodry filters. I've been thinking of buying one for a little while now just for the simplicity of having a washable filter. Anyone with opinions or experience to add??
