As title states. Looking to swap a motor out of a 2012 tacoma to a 2006 tacoma V6. Any known issues?

2012+ v6's had the addition of the smog pump which injects clean air in to the exhaust manifolds to aid in catalytic converter efficiency during cold startup. your 06 doesnt have this system so the manifolds would be left with holes in them, though you could just block them off.

We have a whole 2012 parts truck. Could we use the 2012 manifolds on the 06 ,if we use the 2012 ecm ? Manifolds are rusted out on the 06. We're going to swap the whole 2012 motor/tranny into the 2006 truck

Just don't do it, unless you swap everything!

I spent alot Of time, I mean months deciding on an engine for my 2006. A 2012 will have the emissions issues, the work around and 'fixes'... They don't work. If you replace everything... May work, because basically you will have a 2012 truck on 2006 frame. But, hay, you have both trucks, so go for it, I would! just know, it's not just an engine swap. The best engine for that truck is a 2007-2009 1GR-FE from an FJ with VIN starting with 'J'. That means totally compatible and made in Japan.
