Ok I have been reading on how to do it,but I’m a bit of a retard . Does anyone have a good video or just step by step how to bleed flush my brake system. It’s a 2012 trd off road has the power assisted brake master cylinder.

Super easy, turn the key to “on”. Wedge a piece of wood between brake pedal and seat. Open each bleeder and get the air out one at a time, keeping an eye on reservoir level.

We corrected my brakes by following that service manual.

Small suggestion to the process from 6gear444E. Refill the reservoir after each brake/wheel is bled.

Or have a helper watching and filling the reservoir while you crawl around under the truck.

Thank you all . Now how much new brake fluid would it take? My fluid in there is about 3 years old?

Buy 2 fresh quarts. Dump your old stuff.

If you don't open the 2nd quart, then you can return it with your receipt to get your money back.

    It’s faster. Yes

    Or find a dirt/gravel road.
Power stop - BRAKE HARD. Heard enough to make the ABS come on.
This will help purge air from the ABS module. Then bleed as normal.
    Repeat if necessary.

Other wise, you need a scan tool.

This is a dumb question, is there an indicator light for ABS or only sound/feel that it makes?

I can’t remember if the light comes on.
I do know it makes a noise, and you’ll feel it.
Plus, in my opinion it makes the truck stop worse. It just keeps going:confused:

I didn’t know I was in for such a challenge when changing to braided brake lines

You’ll definitely know when the ABS System kicks on.
No denying it, it is a WTF is going on situation.

If you’re expecting it, it’s not too bad.
As you will be, since you are trying to get it to come on.

I’m almost considering cutting my losses and paying the dealer to do a power bleed just to be sure all the air is out

I can understand that. I pay someone to change my oil. For nothing more than convenience.
The more the job cost, the more likely I am to “try it” myself.

I believe there are some cheaper scan tools that have the function.
It’s probably worth buying one if you plan to do advanced stuff on any vehicle these days.
I have access to a Snap-On Solus Ultra if I need it.

Yea I think I found a scan tool for $200-$300 which could be well worth it in the long run. The dealer would probably be $200 alone for the bleed

I’ve heard good things about Autel.
For the money, they seem hard to beat.
If I ever decide to stop being a bum, and buy my own scan tool, it will likely be an Autel.

Motive pressure bleeder with BA10 adapter

are you aware that typically, the only reason to bleed an ABS block is if air was wrongly forced into it,
that during maintenance brake fluid replacements, no ABS work is done
and that ABS is typically cycled with a scan tool with pressure hooked up and a catch bottle draining

Yea I saw it on Amazon and was about to buy but I’m not sure if any of those are legit Autel sellers. They all have sketchy business names

Well I wasn’t exactly doing routine maintenance. I changed the brake lines and let a lot of air in. I also don’t have a scan tool right now to cycle the abs valves. I also don’t have a vacuum bleeder. I did the good ol’ pump the breaks and open the bleeder with a tube into a bottle method but that didn’t seem to cut it

How exactly does changing a brake line, which is at the very bottom/end/tail end of the brake system
force air into an ABS unit, that is way at the top/front/beginning of the long brake system, and typically full of fluid in that area and fed by a full reservoir

    vacuum bleeders do not bleed

This is the answer... Is there a reason you suspect air in the abs unit? I just swapped to braided lines and had no bleeding issues. Had a vacuum bleeder that didn't work well so did the one man bleeder. Hose to bottle till no air. Worked great
