I was quoted two days ago in Altus, OK $5175.00 installed. I am running 295/55/20 and I can only get overdrive going down hill and can't go up small hills without kicking down and running 3000+ rpm,s. Truck runs really good but always in the gas. Only getting 12-13.5 mpg. I was hoping one would help me pull better in upper gears to get better fuel mileage.

yes, I wasn't sure what route to go? I hoped a sc would help put the overdrive into use to help with fuel consumption of the sc. Does that make sense?

More To Come ...
The TRD Supercharger and fit kit finally arrived on Monday. Installation was started yesterday and was finished today. There are about 49 pages of instructions and a lot more parts to it than I realized. Fortunately, I work for a Toyota dealer so I saved a lot on the price although it was still expensive. I also had a URD pulley added to give it a little more boost/power. Once the install was complete, the tech and I took it for a road test. It does whine more than I thought it would, which I like. Because the dealership is in a high traffic area and there is a cop about every 50 feet it seems, I couldn't really get on it too hard. Once I got off work, I was able to take it onto the interstate and really see what I paid for. HUGE difference! Pulls hard from a stop. Mid range power is awesome. From 60 to 90 seemed instantaneous. Didn't push it any harder since it was just installed and I didn't want to chance the pricey ticket if I got caught but I will say that this will make this truck MUCH more fun to drive.

Thanks for the report! Mine is due to be installed on Friday. I hope its not too loud, id like too hear the radio! Of course it might drown out the kids fighting in the back seat so it would be OK.

Thinking of adding a sc to my 2012 taco that is soon to be on order. Would it be ok to have it installed from the get go or wait to break in the engine? I believe there is an initial break in of not exceeding a certain speed? And that variable speeds is best also?

I just dropped off my 2012 Taco at Mountain States for my S/C install! I can't wait to see what my truck will do after the install. Unfortunately I have about 3/4 of a tank full of 87 octane so I have to burn that off before I really try it out.

I was the first guy over in the huge thread http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/183576-2012-tacoma-trd-supercharger-13.html
to have one installed I ordered the fit kit the day it was available And had it installed like 4 days later at the dealer.

I have 700 miles on her already. As others have said huge difference. Was very happy with install I paid $4000.00 fit kit and supercharger + $760.00 install. So 4760.00 plus tax 8% so all said and done out the door $5140.80 stupid WA sales tax

I like the idea of more power of a S.C.....but, not to be a downer... I like reliability and engine longevity more. Is there a consenses on the wear and tear of a S.C. on the stock engine? Premium grade gasoline ouch! Jus sayin, I know up in Tahoe power of the engine goes down fast. Must be nice to have a S.C. in the high altitudes.

how much life expectancy fall are we talking about? like a few years or like 100,000km's less haha or the equivalent in miles? I mean im hoping that the thing would still last more then 400,000kms....... i mean i probably wont be the owner by that point but still. I think that if you drove it hard enough to hurt it a GREAT deal of life then it probably would have happened with or with out as it would probably have been the driver no?

And plus wouldnt doing stuff like running 35" mudders, boggers, or whatever your choice of tire, and having it up on 6" lift and wheelin the heck out of it, i think that would probably mess with a engine just as much......?

I guess thats the most simple answer as it goes for everything both stock and modded haha. Anyhow it is all about having fun as we only live once haha
