    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
I haven't heard of them failing, but I also don't think we have a huge number of baja members on here...

One of the houston guys has a baja and he mobs the shit out of the thing and hasn't experienced a failure as of yet (that I know of at least).

A lift block is not going to help saggy leaf springs.

What are the symptoms of the failed shock? Is it leaking fluid?

Doesn't look saggy at all to me. And what's this BS about replacing shocks with 16k miles? Sounds like a load of BS to me . . . . .

My 4 leaf pack lost 1 1/2" of height after about 4 months of hauling my toolbox

What a load of BS the OP is spraying out, and people buy into it. There's plenty of Baja kit people on here and nobody complains of flattened springs or "failing shocks". Kid is full of crap.

I've been hauling around a 3800 lb trailer for 2000 miles, WITH a Leer 180 cap, WITH two extra 20lb propane tanks, WITH 150 lbs of tools, and there's no flattened springs or failing shocks. And a bunch of that is offroading in Nevada.

Kid is throwing out a load of BS . . . . . and the pictures don't show any sag at all. Kid is full of shit and it's amazing people buy into it.

The Toyota dealer states the internal valuing has failed, and the shocks have all leaked? The leafs the dealer says are within spec, As far as BS, I wish! Oh and to that poster who thinks that, he can suck it, glad your having good luck for now, Everyone else thanks for The the help. The dealer feels that Toyota did a great job with the front end of the Baja package, however changed nothing in the rear over stock except the shocks themselves, they have no idea why, mine is the only TX baja they sold so there is nothing to compare it to?

You've posted two pics of the truck, and the rear obviously isn't sagging in either one.

You've stated you're getting ready to replace your fourth rear shock in 16k miles, and nobody in the entire Bilstein universe has replaced four Bilstein rear shocks in 16k miles.

You're full of BS, trying to get attention or something.

It is funny how some members get all up in arms when someone takes issue with their precious Baja package.

I would replace the leaf pack since that is what causing the shocks to go bad. most of the load aren't being carry by the leafs so the shocks takes the load, I wouldn't be surprise if you bottom out. I see brand new tacoma come in to service and the leaf pack have a frown in them. btw with only a cap and plywood that be enough to sag out these pos leafs within that mileage.

I appreciate all the help, which is why people come to a specific site like this, as far as what appears to be hostility from Monkeyface, that's why people stop using a site or thread, he obviously has some issues, maybe due to the fact he had to go Army and wasn't good enough to ever be a Marine! Lol but to every one else, thanks.

The leafs on the baja are the same as the off road, there is no upgrade in the back other than the shocks. It's not any taller. Normally I would suggest getting an add a leaf to help your sagging, especially with the leer on it, but if you do an add a leaf they probably won't warranty any more shocks for you, they will blame the add a leaf.

The TSB isn't worth the headache even of it applied to you.

If you are truly having so many problems with the shocks, I wouldn't do anything, but if it were my truck I would get a progressive add a leaf (ie Icon) and be done with it. If any more shocks fail then upgrade them to kings or the like.

Do you do much off roading?

The ride height doesn't have anything to do with the shocks, it's all about the leaf springs. As far as the shocks, maybe you are overextending them or the weight of the cap is causing it to bottom out and damage the shocks, but the bump stops should prevent that.

as soon as I put my snugtop on my DCSB OR it dropped 1.5"

the rear leaf springs in the new tacoma are horrible.. and the dealership will never be able to fix it..

within 3000 miles i had to get the rear leaf springs on my OF swapped out with TSB springs.. within 3 months those springs were sagging 2"s as well..

this.. call up Micah at Downsouth, or one of the guys at All Pro and get a rear leaf spring package with a set of fox shocks or equivalent.. you'll be a lot happier with the ride and it wont sag..

the leafs on the Baja are the same as the SR5 and Sport.. my OF came with the 2 plus 1 spring pack... I had to bitch and complain for a month to get the 3 plus 1 TSB pack and that sagged within 3 months.. and he is probably bottoming out his shocks.. if I remember correctly the 5150's that come with the baja were meant for trucks with 1-1.5"s of lift.. basically a AAL.. but they never added the leaf

Mine too. I added the Icon progressive 5 leaf pack before the first oil change. I think a good add a leaf would probably fix it, but the dealer would never admit it.
