Sliders are different from running boards or nerf bars. They are designed to support the weight of the vehicle. Nerf bars will bend, and cannot be used as a lift point. Although it is sketchy using the sliders to lift, it can be done. Sliders also typically have 15-20 degrees of angle. That way if you get hung up on rocks it should slide off instead of high centering. They also offer a lot of protection for rocker panels, especially if you are climbing a washout.

I’ve been doing a ton of reading and have it narrowed down to
OME 887, medium Dakar, and LR UCA’s.

I can’t decide between the nitrochargers or bilstein 5100s. I see you like the 90021 (soft rides). Anyone have experience between those and the 9000’s (firm). Appreciate y’alls input who have experience here.

I’m 95% city/hwy and looking for the 2.75-3” lift with a nice ride to zip around town in. I’ll probably buy one of the kits from headstrong or wheelers! Info appreciated!

    Thanks!

I also spent a lot of time researching and doing a lot of reading before making the choice. I have the exact setup you're talking about and it suits my needs. To me the 90021 (softer ride) feel very similar to stock as far as suspension feel, but with the springs being slightly stronger it seems to recover quicker.

1.) To answer your question for 5100's vs. Nitrochargers I would maybe reach out to someone else that has used them. I know it seems like the 5100 is more popular. I have no complaints in performance for the OME's though. 5100 will give you the option of adjusting if you end up sagging eventually, where as the Nitrochargers do not.

2.) Something i didn't take into serious consideration when i got the kit was weight. My original plan was to stay pretty light. Since, I have added skids. I want to add full bumpers, winch, roof rack. If your intention is to eventually add the weight, I may suggest going with the 886 springs and the HD Dakars. I am going to make that conversion this summer myself. So I wish i would've went that route from the beginning because it is roughly the same price.

3.) LR UCA's. I have no complaints with them per se. I have run into issues with shops not knowing how they work for alignment to outright refusal to use them. I eventually got a setup that worked for my alignment, but it was a pain. If you have a good alignment shop that is willing to work with you, then they would be fine. The SPC's are nice in the sense that the caster and camber can be adjusted through the upper ball joint, not just the LCA cam bolts. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably go with JBA Offroad UCA's. They have the high castor already built into them, so they should be easier to get a good alignment.

I have no experience with Wheelers, so I can't attest to them. I can tell you that @HeadStrong Off-Road was very easy to work with. Marie knows her shit, but everyone there does. They drive these trucks, so they know them in and out. Their kits are full, and my installing mechanic is thinking about going with a full kit, because he was so impressed with it. Take your time and do it right the first time. If you have a question reach out to someone on the forum. The Pennsylvania thread is pretty active, and there are a lot of helpful people on it.

I also have a few threads from my research that you might be able to find on my profile page. I wouldn't know how to find them now. But if you search OME lift questions it should bring them up. I had some good responses from people running a similar setup that you might also reach out to. Good luck and keep me posted.

    Keeping you posted....

I found a deal I couldn’t pass up so switched and went with Fox.
I’ll post before and after photos once up. I went with Fox 2.5 up front, 2.0 in the back, icon AAL, and JBAs.

I’ll post before and after photos once I get it installed.

    Thanks,

    Jon

Have the needle bushing from ECGS but not yet installed.

    Rides great!

If I was to do it all over again, I’d get a full leaf pack replacement. She squats with any added weight. Something I’ll consider changing later on.

It is a nice look, but I'm getting mine ready to wheel. I'd rather smash a cheap stocker than replacement with caps.

Figured I would try to get a more updated picture of the truck in here. I don't have a good on that gets the whole truck though. I also have to get the front fenders and snorkle added yet.

So whats the story with that swing out HC bumper? did you build it yourself? I like the simplicity of replacing the tailgate and having an all in one solution. Any idea how much it weighs by itself?

I bought it used off a guy. There was a local that built 5 or so that have been passed around the east coast. It is a great design that works well. It has its drawbacks though, a ton of weight on the rear axle, which compromised my Dakars. You need 5 ft to open the tailgate. Biggest issue is my kayaks, I can't just put the tailgate down and load them up anymore. I like it, but it has some negatives I didn't consider. IDK what it weighs, but with the spare I would estimate 2-300 lbs. There is a fold down table and cb antenna mount built in.

The bumper is separate, and made by @Skell at KORE 4x4.
