The Mayan dude makeing the calender simply figured that 500 years was long enough to make a calender for. Either that or his buddy came over and said:
    Buddy: "What ya dooin, Grog?"
    Grog: "Makeing a calender"
Buddy: "cool, cool. How far have ya gotten?"
    Grog: "Dec. 21 2012"
Buddy: " Dude, thats like, ummm.......500 years from now"
    Grog: "yeah......so?"
Buddy: " you got us covered for plenty of moons. Lets go get a beer and chase some ladys"
    Grog: "Meh.....Ok."

And now, Here it is 500 years later, and everyone is like "OMG, The Myans KNEW SSomething!" "The world must be going to END!"

While, closer to the truth for all we know, Grog, being already an over achiever, went for some beer and to chase some tail.

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!
So the moral of the story is go to your nearest Toyota dealership and trade in your truck for a fully loaded 4x4 with all the options. You won't have to worry about paying it off. Then (because there's more) go get a credit card and charge that baby up with all the after market parts you've ever wanted. Then (because you're not done) leave everything behind and go on a road trip with everyone else that did the same thing and then wait on the top of a mountain on Dec 21, 2012 and go where your truck takes you!
