2013 4cyl Double Cab

Hi everyone i'm new here.
Anyone driving a 2012 or 2013 4 cyl. double cab.
I was just interested in finding out their real world mpg, acceleration ect.
Also if possible how much were you guys able to knock of the M.S.R.P
Pics would be nice. Thanks again.

 

have a 2012 DC 2.7 and here's my mileage stats now 16,720 miles on it
Basic Stats

• 20.2 (+0.1) avg MPG
• 22.1 (-4.3) last MPG
• 26.4 (10/13/12) best MPG

Those numbers sound pretty decent. I don't know if I should buy now or wait for more news on the 2014. I heard they might bring out a direct injection engine with a 6 speed auto.

 

Usually the very earliest you can get a next model year tacoma is September, so you would be waiting awhile. The current 4cyl is the definition of reliable, but it would be nice if they could squeeze out a couple more mpgs. Probably have to wait for the next gen (prob 2015, but who knows).

 

I bought a 13 dbl cab last week...
I havent had to fill up yet so idk about the mpg's yet.

I was able to knock off over $2800 MSRP on mine. I love it so far.

Dont keep track of MPGs 2012 4dr prerunner 4cyl but it was 25,000 OTD.Before it got 2,000 miles on it bad mpg.Now 5,000 miles way better.Sad thing is my 96 3/4 dodge 4x4-5sp-Cummins extra cab,w/35tires.Does better MPGs

 

Thanks.. Umm I don't think so, it's very smooth like your driving a car. Obviously it doesn't get up and take off like a V8 would, but in no way is it sluggish. I recommend it...

Also, I've put about 300 miles on 3/4 tank of gas... so I'm averaging about 20-21. I think once it gets broke in good 22 avg shouldn't be a problem.

 

Here is my 2012 double cab 4-banger. The acceleration is surprisingly snappy. However, the engine noise is somewhat loud in the cab but it doesn't bother me since I have the music blasting most of the time. On average the mpg are about what is stated for the truck. I am very happy with it after almost a year. Enjoy your new truck.

 

Mostly highway miles?? Bought my 13 DC 2.7 Prerunner about 5 weeks ago and so far have been disappointed on fuel efficiency. Last fillup was 16.7 MPG (mostly city) and my best so far has only been 20.4 (90% highway). I've removed the secondary filter, dropped in an AFE pro dry and drive with an egg under the accelerator so I'm not sure what the issue is. Have been using Fuelly.com to track but after this last fillup I will start tracking mannually - that's the only other thing I can think of

 

Secondary filter removal will give more power, not better MPGs.
Also, give it some more time/miles to break in... after 8-10k miles I'm sure you will see better fuel economy numbers with your gentle throttle use. Other factors will affect MPG numbers such as tire pressure, carrying extra weight, and highway cruising speed. Wish I had a 2013 model...

 

2014 is not the new truck. 2015 will be selling in 2014

 

Most Toyota engines do not produce maximum MPG's until about 20K, That is when mine started to hit 25 MPG on a regular basis. My current driving conditions(lots of short 3.5 mile trips with lots of stop and go) prevent me from achieving those numbers these days. But when I travel to see family I easily acheive 25+ depending on the season.

 

What is the difference between doing it manually and using Fuelly.com. They both use the same numbers and method. Fuelly simply allows you to track trends.

 

i just went to a class on direct injection a couple weeks back. sounds like a good idea and i think all the big manufactures will have it in the cars in the next couple years.

 

the most highway miles was when it hit the 26 mpg mark, that's when we moved from Florida to Tennessee. Most of my mileage has been stop and go when I lived in Ocala, FL. Your MPG will get better as the mileage increases.

 

Direct injection is great for MPG's and the environment, and a few more HP. Not so great is the propensity to put raw fuel in your oil, and your intake valves do not get cleaned by the detergents in the fuel.

The intake valves only let air into the engine in a direct inj engine. What causes the problem is the overlap in valve timing between the exhaust valve and the intake valve. A small amount of spent exhaust gases accumulate on the intake valves during this overlap period, eventually causing a buildup of crud on the sealing portion of the intake valves. Engineers are getting a handle on the fuel dilution problem, with better computer control of the injectors. The intake valve problem remains unsolved. To some extent consumers are being used as field testers(guinea pigs) for this problem.

 

they do the testing everytime they come out with something new like fuel injection was shit when it came out. that is why it wont be smart to buy a vehicle with these engines for a few years. they will have a bunch of problems in the beginning.

 

I am getting 19-21 all city. I have not taken mine on a road trip yet (this weekend its going to Disney... but I have the dinky 15 inch steel rims and factory tires which is why I think the fuel economy is so good.


I have a 2012 2.7 Double Cab Automatic Silver SR5 has tinted windows window visors, bug deflector, nitrogen filled tires
I got mine new for 22990 msrp was 26540 with the dealer add ons.
I bought mine in July 2012 and refused to pay for the dealer add ons.

DON'T USE STEALERSHIP FINANCING their rates are high I took my own check from my credit union for 1.29% for 60 months.

 

Nice looking truck, are those custom wheels? What size tires you got there? I have a 2013 dc, but sits too low for me.
