I should have checked these out while at the dealer, but I didn't. Closest dealer is 60 miles away, si I thought I would ask here.
Interior lights: It sound like the Tacoma is lacking on this point.

    1. Is ther at least a dome light that come on when the door is open? Does it go off as soon as the door is closed or does it "fade"

    2. Is there a light at the ignition swith to see where the key is going. I have a car that is pretty well scratched up because of the lack of one.

    3. Do any of the switches have lights, like 4 wheel drive, traction control, door locks, power side mirror contorl, etc?

    4. This is getting picky, but where is the high beam headlight indicator? My current car has has it located so the sterring wheel blocks it from view.

Last of all, I am still undecided if I need the off road package. I don't go off road on anything an AWD vehicle probuly couldn't handel. But...it does snow here, anywhere from a couple inches to a couple feet. My driveway is 300 feet long at about an 18% grade. The old blazer makes it fine, but the AWD SUV needs the cables put on to get out. After the driveway is a fairly steep County road that is pretty much ice after they plow it for another couple miles down till I hit the flatland.
So.......opinions....TRD Off Road or SR5 with a differant set tof tires?

Oh .........those with the double cab.....do you find the bed size adequate?

And thanks to all in this forum......a lot of usefull informatioon here.

I am picky and you asked many questions that never crossed my mind.

    (1) = Yes

TRD with locker would be best IMO for (bad weather days) your driveway.

I have a short bed DC and the 5 ft. bed is perfect for me.

    1. Yes..it fades a few seconds after you close the door.
    2. No light...just have to be accurate :D
    3. The 2/4WD switch does not come lighted..but there are many who have modded it to do so. The switches on the left of the wheel do light up.
    4. Forgot..I think its on the bottom of the speedo for some reason.

Not sure if TRAC vs ATRAC in snow..but the locking diff with the TRD would probably be useless in the snow.(actually..maybe..eh i never seen snow..i may have no idea :p ) I would say SR5 with better tires.

    Double cab...short or long bed? I have a short bed..it is..a bit short id say..especially with a UWS toolbox in the back..but hey..I also don't want a taco-limo :)

You can get double cab with short bed or long bed. Just the off road model only comes with a short bed.
Sounds like an 4x4 SR5 would be fine for you, but you might want the a-trac for snow. No experience with that mysself.

    1. Yes it does, mine fades
    2. Nope
    3. Half the switches have lights, 4 wheel drive is not illuminated but you can easily do that
    4. Towards the top and right I believe
And I have the TRD offroad, I like it for the rear locker and mirrors you can scratch up
2wd is close to a joke on ice.
Also got a double cab short bed, and haven't had anything yet that I can't put in there. If you want you can also get a double cab long bed

I vote offroad, and the indicator light is by the speedometer. Mine is never out of view, but as with any vehicle, it depends on how you sit with your seat and steering wheel height. The only way to decide for you is to actually sit in it ( but I'm 6' and no issues for me)
