    I'm sorry to hear that.

Ridiculous. Hope they prove it to be true so he can get his wish and get out of College Station.

    LOL

He probably has a 'Heisman' trophy in his house right next to the picture of his 'girlfriend' since they're equally real.

I wish I could make 5 figures for signing stuff.

I think it's dumb these kids can't profit off of themselves, but as long as it's the rule, then it should be followed. It's much dumber for Johnny to have done it (if he did). He doesn't even need the money. Just arrogance on his part thinking he's above the rules.

If he is guilty then he deserves to be punished. He should know better. As for the rule it's self it's hard to draw a line in the sand that is fair for everyone involved.

^This. He should have known better. I know the money is tempting, but damn this fool knows he is in the spotlight, why on earth would he do something that stupid? You never know - he may be tired of playing..well for his team at least... idiots gonna idiot...

If you want to make money from autographs and playing a sport, don't play college athletics or any other amateur sport. If you want to make money from a sport or your fame that is made famous from said sport, go professional.

    Agree.

The money is tempting for anybody... but this kid is RICH. I just don't get his decision making.

I agree. It's against the rules, and if he wants to make money from his likeness he can do it, just not in college football... Still... Sucks for college football players, though, b/c they can't go pro until they're out of HS for 3 years. I don't know when they can go to the CFL.

Are there sports outside of college that are amateur?

I believe it is only NFL that holds the 3 year rule. If the CFL and Arena League were to be smart, they would allow kids straight out of high school to come play for them.

Outside of college? I'm not sure. To google.

From wikipedia from the Olympic Games Amateurism sections
"As of 2004, the only sport in which no professionals compete is boxing, although even this requires a definition of amateurism based on fight rules rather than on payment, as some boxers receive cash prizes from their National Olympic Committees."

That's part of the problem right there. He grew up getting away with anything he wanted, punching people in the nuts with his dad, throwing temper tantrums, and above the rules of normal people.

I know some of his high school peers from kerrville and apparently he was a total asshole, tripping kids in the hallway, had a country thug attitude, and was generally despised by anyone not into his football skill. Even then, most teammates didn't even like him. His hometown heisman celebration barely had any turnout at all.

Anyways, it doesn't surprise me all this shit is happening with him. Good football player...giant douchebag.

I hope he's around for the Bama game but it's not looking too good right now.
