2013 Offroad with Leather seats and JBLs

Hi guys.

I am currently in the market for a 2012-2015 TRD Offroad Tacoma 4x4 and I found one at my local Carmax that is catching my eye. It’s a 2013 4x4 with black leather seats, JBL speakers, and a locking rear differential along with all the other TRD offroad features. Was it possible in 2013 to get a truck with these features? Or has the previous owner done a bunch of aftermarket stuff to it? Everything looks stock, but I’ve never heard of a Tacoma with all these options from the factory.

What are your guys’ opinions?

Everything sounds normal for an OR except for the leather seats. I think you could only get the leather seats on the 12-15s on the Limited model. Possible the previous owner ordered it from factory with the Limited leather seats or put aftermarket leather seats in it.

 

I have a 2013 Limited and the only color that the leather seats came in from the factory were grey so it sounds like aftermarket seats to me.

 

Ok cool. So you could get JBLs and black leather seats in an offroad?

@NH13LTD corrected me - I didn't see the black in your original post. I'm pretty positive you could get JBL in an OR though. When I bought my 14' I seem to remember this being an option, although I did not get it.

 

I don't think you could get any type of leather seats on the OR in 2013 but JBLs were an option if I can recall correctly. The only model with heated leather seats that was available when I bought my truck was the Limited.

 

Yup - just looked it up. JBL was an option. NO Leather seats on an OR just the limited model and according to @NH13LTD you could only do grey leather from the factory on the limited.

Ok thanks for the info. Carmax has it listed as an SR5 and is priced accordingly, but I noticed it had these extra features so I might be able to get a deal on it. Curious about the seats.

Leather was not a factory option in the OR. The Limited came with Softex which is a synthetic leather. It sounds like the previous owner installed Katzkins which would be a very nice feature to have.

PS - This is true for US versions. I'm not sure if the same holds for Canadian models.

 

That’s awesome to know. I checked and you’re all right, it came with cloth bucket seats and factory JBLs. So the leather was added.

 

Might just be something like Clazzio leather seat covers. They don’t form quite as well to the seat seams as katzkin or other reupholstery type kits do.

 

If it was bought in the southeast Toyota region then the dealer could have the seats changed to leather with heaters when it was taken off the ship in Jacksonville.
