Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Ah I see, personally I would just go with a second gen, I am having visions of the 3rd generation being a watered down version like a Honda Ridgeline. Independent suspension on both ends, and an AWD setup instead of part time 4x4. Even if they don't do that, they are gonna have to make some major sacrifices in order to make the truck meet the new CAFE standards for fuel economy.

Amen to what he said . I bought a 95 within weeks of it's release and by 95.5 there was a ton of changes. You ever tried to buy parts for a 95 and not a 95.5 you would understand what I'm talking about.

The only real difference on pricing is that the 2012 has a $750 rebate and the 2013 has a $500. You should be able to shop around and get an equal deal on the '13 since every dealer has them now. Go '13, I did :D

(you'll be very happy when you go to trade when you have the 2013 over the 2012, and it seems like you and I have similiar trade patterns on vehicles ;))

I had the '95 PreTaco and had no problem getting parts for it (not that it needed many) It was the same as the '9? to '94. I just sold it this summer since I didn't need it to haul firewood anymore.

I think Toyota is making a mistake waiting ten or eleven years to redesign the Tacoma. They will be losing my business very soon. I usually keep my trucks around five years and my 07 is getting old and tired. I want a new one but I be dammed if I buy the same body style twice, so I will have to look elsewhere. They never waited 10/11 years for previous redesigns………

Not sure why they are waiting so long but it may be due to the new CAFE requirements and toyota sales. That's all I can figure out....

I agree that the truck is getting long in the tooth, but Tacoma (along with the entire industry) had a pretty strong year in 2012 and continues to own ~50% of the segment. And the competition hasn't had any refreshes either.

The competition is starting to heat up though, with the new Colorado coming out soon, along with a new Frontier and Ridgeline to follow. Plus a potential Ram Rampage (Ridgeline-like truck). All of this will only add to force Toyota's hand in some significant changes, unless they are willing to give up market share.

They have no real motivation at this point the competition is just as old. Maybe once new trucks come out they will put some real effort again.

I certainly hope your correct. I've been waiting patiently for this to happen. I love my Jetta diesel...I was hoping Toyota would build, and market their overseas diesel here in the states.

I went with a 13 because I fear that the manual tranny will be deleted.

Think the guys are right n offer soundnadvice. Why wait when youncan have a solid design, and wait for something that you have no idea what will be? I too fell for this thinkingnand kicked myself in the ass. The new gen, always have kinks n bugs that take a few years to iron out. Why putnyrself thru that? Time will heal all. Buy the 2013 and enjoy it.

I personally couldn't wait because the time was now, nonetheless I don't think I will regret it because what Toyota is going to do is get the Taco and the Hilux closer together reasons being cost of production and introduction of the Hilux to the USA. Toyota has seen the rise of work vehicles, see the MB Sprinter and wants its share of the pie via the Hilux. I can't say if the Taco will be water down or the Hilux brought up but I want to think the first because the Hilux can't be any more expensive that what it is now to compete.

As far as the Amarok, I drove one and its a piece of crap, the interior is falling apart and this was a factory vehicle I drove, it feels completetly inadequate for anything really, the design is attractive but the quality of build is crap.

you may have an issue with the 2013 Tacoma's with a drive line vibration.I'm going into the dealer next week to see if it is a tsb recall on the drive line. I didn't see one for my year but there was an issue with previous models. Just a heads up.
