    2013 PreRunner AC question

This is my first post here so I’m hoping this is the right spot for this question. I just had to replace the blower motor resistor on my 2013 PreRunner because the old one had only been working intermittently and when I pulled the connector off I could see that one of the wires was clearly burnt.

After the research I did, I decided to go with the newer version of the part along with the new wiring that Toyota released for it, and even though the wires are different I made sure my mechanic followed the right instructions to match the wires so that everything should work.

He installed it and now all of a sudden settings 2 and 4 on the AC control knob are exactly the same.

When he put everything together he called me to let me know about the issue and swears to me that he matched the right wires, assuming he’s telling the truth, is there something else that could be causing this? Could one of the wires be corroded at the switch and not just by the resistor? Has anyone else seen anything like this, and if so, how did you fix it?

    Thanks!

Thanks! I read through that thread but I don’t think that’s the issue. I also popped the whole control unit out of the dash and sprayed electric cleaner on all of the connectors on the climate control unit for good measure, even though none of the plugs were burned but still no luck on that middle setting. I’m wondering if maybe it’s AC switch itself, in which case my only option would be to replace the whole control unit.
