Fellow Gen-2 Taco Owners, (2005-2015) The company (Hewitt-tech In) that builds the secondary air bypass kit should be coming out with a Gen-2 kit by this Spring, from what I was told. I just now personally called and was informed of this. I was also informed not to use the 2012 model kit for the 2013 and up kit because of the vehicle not properly registering/compatible with the 2013 model. My truck is a 13, and I'm not about to deal with a limp taco. Might as well prepare for this ahead of time....

The bypass kit or the delete kit? There's a pump under your hood that's prone to failure .. it's 100% shit.

I think yourr talking about that little emssions control air pump that I hear whizzing up every time I start my Taco, right? If so, I've been keeping an eye on this as well...as these pumps are reported to fail fairly often and cost heafty penny to fix. I guess your supposed to keep some hose clean or something to help them last longer?

The only people I've seen comment with the issue have been owners of 2012s. There was one guy with a 2015, but I suspect he was just a statistical outlier who got a lemon pump.

If you go look in the 20+ page thread on this 2ndary air pump issue you will observe this. I'm not saying 13+ won't have an issue, I just think we've been bought a little more time given ours runs at startup/shutdown to clear out moisture or whatever.

Tundra owners have had a hell of a time dealing with it and 4Runner owners are among the afflicted also.

Off the subject, sorda!!! A pair-valve delete on my Honda CBR1000RR, I did all the MOD, deleted the whole air injection kit, and just left the wires tied up and out of the way.... No sort of codes given off. Attached a whose here and capped another hose off and this bike since I did the MOD in 2010 has been nothing but good to me, and has been really, really fast, hitting 198 before I regeared.....

Install a uni filter on the intake of the pump. Remove the foam filter and be done with it.

Yup. A couple 13s and a few later 2nd gens (2014+) but 90% of the issues are 2012 models.

I still have yet to do that...I keep forgetting. It still won't solve the issue with the valves crapping out though.

At least on my 15 the pump comes on twice. Start and shut down. Time will tell I guess.

Yes, as does all Tacomas 13+. I hope for the best but the change to a startup and shutdown cycle may only work as a bandaid.

There has to be a delete where you can remove the whole thing with some block off plates, and filter or plug the hoses, and be done with it.. Maybe some trick-factory wiring plug and play, and the MOD is done?? What y'all think??
If this can be done on a 210mph race bike, this should be able to be done on a 4 or 6 banger....

Yes it can be. Do the development on your truck and let us know when you get it working and how you did it :)

This is "Triple-G-Racing", I'm up for the challenge.. If my bike can be done, this should a doable MOD to achieve. Maybe delete the whole pump, place some plates, remove the fuses for the pump to work, and let's go to town... We'll see what's up....

I think the hard part is dealing with the 'limp mode'. I've not experianced it, but appreantly when this pump goes out or thrrows a code, it will put the engine into limp mode, so that you can't ignore it and you have to fix the problem. It really blows too, because as near as I can tell, this is just some stupid emissions stopgap thing that only runs a bit after a cold start...

Crazy how Toyota used to be like a Honda back in the day.. They always run, just change the oil and spark plugs, and it will run forever... 22RE anyone?? We'll, times have changed, smog rules have taken over, and this is why we wrench. This is why we MOD.... Let's keep things modified, because factory is too dull!!!!
