So... I take delivery of my new truck tommorow and I just found out as of this evening that my factory stereo does not have satellite radio, even though I originally thought it did :(

Looking at my options however yields a few:

    - purchase an XM or Sirius radio and plug it into the AUX jack
    - upgrade the head unit at some point that has sat radio built in or is sat ready

I would prefer to go the upgraded head unit route, BUT! I do not want to lose my steering wheel controls or Bluetooth functionality for my phone. I know there are steering wheel controller adapters, but I have not found any to utilize the factory Bluetooth mic or phone steering wheel controls. I could always "find" the wiring if I stared at a schematic/wiring diagram long enough, but before I did that I wants to make sure no adapters already exist for this purpose. Would also like a head unit that would use the and display the rearview camera.

Any 2010-2012 owners run into this and have a solution/suggestion?

Tell the dealer you wanted the stereo upgrade with SAT and XM or you will not accept the truck. Simple as pie. They may throw it in.

I kinda tried that. I asked for $200 off the final price we agreed on, and part of my total out the door ended in 964 dollars, so after me complaining about it the sales manager took $64 off just to appease me, not totally satisfying but better than nothing I suppose  Car dealers kill me, they always cry poverty. I have no problem with them making a profit, but they want to make money at the same time I want to save it, so we need to meet in the middle somewhere.

Not taking the truck was not an option, they had to go to Ohio to get this particular one I wanted and I absolutely love it! I had this debate with my wife, and it's just electronics that can and will probably be upgraded in the future anyhow. I'm honestly not that disappointed with the factory stereo for now anyhow... bluetooth works great and I can stream my tunes and have access to my playlists etc so not too bad :)

upgrade head unit, I believe the mic is in most aftermarket head units, if it has blue tooth built in, its probably better quality than factory mic plus you normally face the radio (front of vehicle when speaking not straigt up in the air , where the factory mic is). The factory head unit is garbage and bluetooths been acting up on me (no sound but callers can hear me checked volume it was fine???).Just upgraded all front and rear speakers and put 5 channel alpine amp and 1 10" kicker comp. have it running off speaker level inputs and can hear alot of distortion from factory cd player. Hope this helps.:)

You could research the oem part number of the one that would work for your truck and have all the features that may be PnP simple swap then scout the FS threads here for it and/or start a WTB thread. Also try to find that particular one on ebay.......if you want to stay PnP oem. There is always something louder and clearer for a price. That price is money and thieves. No one much cares about stealing cheap oem non-pawnable equipment. There is something to be said for that......and for being able to hear when you get older.
