    Just in case of a fender-bender.

    short bed or long bed, the distance from the axle to the bumper is the same and they have the same departure angles before you incorporate tire size and lifts into the equation. You're just not wheeling hard enough if you still have your trailer plug attached. :p

    In my case, I'm going to do both bumpers but I will probably only be able to do one before Moab. Seeing that I'm going to use the rear bumper for the air tank and I'd like to get through golden crack without draging my ass, I'll do the back first. I just really wanted to do the front first because they look bad ass and it changes the entire look of the truck.

    my vote goes with the front bumper because then you can get a winch on sooner plus you're able to clear higher ledges without stacking rocks...you can always drag your hitch, you won't damage that..and the resale value on rear factory bumpers is not that high to begin with so i wouldn't have high hopes on a big return on that

    Well, I'm going to try to do both. I may end up running only a partially completed bumper on one end. My winch will be hitch mounted so that I can run it on the front or the back for solo exploring purposes. Definitely won't have the winch by Moab though.

    Nice! Yeah I knicked my trailer plug in Moab so we relocated it. Last time I tried it it didnt work so maybe I did more damage than it appeared.

    As far as resale value it will be a matter of finding the right person. I think even the junkyards around here want $700 for one. Dealership will want even more. So for someone that wants an oem, especially colormatched, it could possibly oay for half his plate bumper.

    I have found the approach angle is pretty good on the front end already, granted I have 3" with 33's, but I also have a bull bar hanging down. Sure it's not nearly as good as good as a plate bumper but it's still good.

    Also I like the hitch reciever winch idea:) That is how I am doing it too:D too bad the winch is a ways into the future...

    you guys that are planning on Hole in the Rock should be planning on several extra days to do that right. It's still a long drive from Moab to Hall's Crossing where you get on the ferry. The trail is a couple of days at least too. Don't get me wrong, its a cool trail and the historical nature of the trail is pretty amazing and the scenery is awesome. Just be sure you're giving yourselves ample time to do it.

    i was planning on a 2-day trip for the trail itself..

    i was planning on coming in from the moab side...hoping to actually be coming from the wave (fingers crossed on the lottery)...

    yea it's definitely quite a ways down there for sure
