I will be getting new wheels and tires mounted this weekend (MT Classic Locks and 285 Duratracs), but may switch to MT MTZs by then. Plan to add full skids and new rear Foxes as well.

Also, swap out for new CVs, which will add to the spare parts list as well! One great feature of the 4R is the center diff lock, which on terrain like slickrock is awesome, enabling AWD rather than 4WD. Reading the Hell's Revenge trip report from last year, looks like a lot of CVs went from turning on the slickrock, which is basically pavement.

We lost two cv's on Hell's, same rig both times. One was due to a front locker, the other was just bad luck. Both were lost while going straight and climbing up a steep obstacle. Most of the blame lies on the fact that they were non-oem cv's and non-oem cv's are known for being much weaker than oem.

Why's that? Everything I have read on them has been great, particularly being one of the better mudders on the road.

Hmm, wonder if they were damaged prior and just popped under high load. Bob pointed me to a local CV place that rebuilds OEM ones and offers silicone boots with better stretch and resilience than the stock ones.

Hmm i have a lock right that broke and wont unlock i did just fine with it in moab last year.

Correct answere would be sandpaper unless it gets wet and then its slick.

im running them right now they do ok in the snow, they are noise as hell, they suck ass on the rocks, they chunk apart really easy, they don't last for shit, but as far as cleaning out they do that just fine. the key to cleaning any tire out is spinning that son of a bitch. I did run KM2's i loved them wanna try the MTR's Brant ran them. They wear fast but so far so has everything i've put under my truck.

I've had a set of those in the past on my FJ40. Not a bad tire really. I haven't checked on pricing lately but back when i had them they were really expensive compared to comperable tires. But I didn't have any complaints about them and they were suprisingly good in the wet too.

Brant (MrTRD) would know more, but I was asking him about them and he said, IIRC, that they had really weak sidewalls that tore open pretty easily on rocks.

Didn't have any pics of my FJ40 handy but when I had the SSRs there were several of my local wheeling buddies that were running them. We beat the piss out of them on the rocks all over Moab and other gnarly Utah trails as well as the Rubicon. Never had an issue with sidewalls or otherwise.

Pretty good tires if you ask me, as long as the price is reasonable.

SSR and the trxus tires are very $$$

heard great reviews on the trxus with all around performance and high reviews in the snow/winter conditions...very similar to SSR but with tighter lug pattern

SSR for sizes i was looking at were high $300s/tire and trxus were low to mid $300s/tire

    $250-340/tire for mt/r (33s-35s)

I can't remember exactly what he had said, but he didn't know of any guys having good luck with them, but we have really sharp lava rock around here. I liked them because they make the only 35x10.50 that I can find, for if I were to go to a 35.
