Yeah I'm going to have to let her drive again this year so she can redeem herself this time. :p

Geez I am just excited to actually see the damned thing. Went to Moab once as a ride along and only went on Hell's Revenge. :/

That explains what I was trying to say much better, thanks Ben.
See and I probably watched the video and was thinking that that was the ideal way of getting across. Well I will have a locker by the time I get there so that should help.

one locker will make just about any tacoma capable of tackling all but the very hardest trails in Moab.

Driver ability is another matter. :)

True data. I am hoping to learn a lot while I'm out there. I have heard great things about the camaraderie and people willing to help and teach newer people. All the people I have wheeled with from TW have been super cool. I'm glad my wife is going so that she can pick up some pointers for spotting too.

So if I came at it with less of an angle, could I at least keep both fronts planted/equal enough to drag the ass through? Or if I just used the right amount of open diff bump I could get that front across quick enough.

    Well no..

You won't have the suspension travel and due to the weight distribution your fronts will pretty much become useless in the crack and you'll be so twisted your rear won't have traction either.

Bumping is touchy as too much and over you go..haha

You would need at least 35's if not more for the fronts to be useful in the crack with open diffs. Here my front passenger wasn't touching anything because my tiny tires can fit in the crack. This was as far as I got because of my open diffs and lack of flex.

I made the silver crack just fine because it's way shallower.

Wait til you try it in a single cab with 33s, a lot more off camber and my tire was a tit-bit higher than yours Steven. I thought if I bumped it hard enough, I would've gone over.

Thanks, yeah I'm hoping he can as I'm not sure how many NorCal guys are making it. I know Alvin will, but I was planning on following Jerry. If he doesn't I'll probably head out anyways and meet up with some of the 4runner guys that are going.

Yeah it's already been answered. A straighter approach isn't going to help, it will actually make it worse.

No easy way around it. With open diffs its just tough. Bigger tires can help but actually the only way I've seen open diffs work on that obstacle is with HUGE amounts of suspension travel where they can keep all 4 tires firmly on the ground. But that's a rare thing because a rig with tons of travel is most likely going to be locked.

No reason to worry, we had half the group last year with open diffs and they all made it in the end. It might have taken a little extra help, no harm in that. Pretty sure nobody from last year is going to say it ruined their day that they couldn't make it across unaided. We all had a blast. and everyone needs a little help through an obstacle now and then.
