    What you don't see in this pic is the giant rock on the other side of Bob's truck. Going up this line earlier in the day is way gave me this. Not horrible but could have been avoided with some better driving.

    Cliffhanger is definitely a trail that a locker is recommended. Photobucket is being a bitch. That red X is just my driver side bed side that got munched.

    Adam, in all your experience, if it were up to you, say you were the trail leader, would you tell me not to go on cliff hanger with open diffs? Would it be too much of a pain and a liability?

    Yeah... I have an army leadership course I have to go to that starts before Moab and ends well after Moab...

    Training ends like mid June. Don't remember the exact date.

    If I were the trail leader I would tell you not to go on cliff hanger because I wouldn't want to deal with your whining all day. Nothing to do with having lockers or not. :)



    ok....seriously. I wouldn't turn you away. Not really any different than some of the guys we had on Golden Spike last year with open diffs. But if I were a trail leader and a dude showed up to run Cliff Hanger or some of the other tougher trails with a totally stock truck with zero protection and no lockers, and no lift. I'd probably encourage them to try something different, but if they still wanted to try it, then my philosophy as a trail leader is after someone like that has been warned of the potential trouble they might have, I will give them 3 tries on an obstacle. If they can't make it in 3 tries, we hook up a strap and pull them through it.

    the reason for that is that if you're waiting for under-equipped trucks all day to make their way through an obstacle it can really slow the whole group down and make for a frustrating day for those who are better prepared. Not to mention the greater potential to break stuff if you keep hammering on an obstacle because you don't have the right equipment and you have too much of an ego to take a strap.

    Now if you feel like you can make it throught the trail with a stock truck no matter what anyone else says, then go do it on your own or with a smaller group. Doing that as part of an event with a larger group isn't the time to prove yourself like that. Too much of a negative impact on the rest of the group as a whole.

    Those are kinda my general thoughts on the matter.

    For your truck specifically, I'd say go for it. But you're going to struggle on a few of the spots on the trail and might not make some of them on your own. No biggie. Do your best, and then let someone give you a little tug (see what i did there?) when you get stuck.
