I’m replacing the stock inside mirror with a safesight one and wonder where the camera in the tailgate gets its power. I’ve read that it requires 6V. Does the stock mirror do the dc/dc conversion or is 6V available somewhere else?

Just use 12V. The OE 6v reduction thing is crap. I have been running 12 on the OE camera for over 4 years now and it runs awesome to this day.

The power for the Camera comes from the mirror. Here is the schematic for the 2012 Tacoma.
