I live in Florida and when I launch my jet ski sometimes my rear wheels have to go in the water a pretty good ways, depending on the tide. After the rear wheels have been partially submerged and I park the truck, my rear brakes have seized up from the salt water after sitting for a couple of hours. When that has happened, I have had to take the wheel that is stuck off and hit the drum lightly with a hammer and it frees itself. Has anyone else ever had this issue? Is there a remedy for it, besides not getting the rear wheels in salt water? I even tried putting it in 4 low to try and break the wheel free, and all that did was drag the wheel and tire. I always hose the back wheels off with fresh water when I get home.
    Thanks for any responses.

When was the last time you removed your drums and cleaned/regreased everything? I'm guessing you have a lot of corrosion in there. I'd suggest you get new spring kits and replace everything while you are in there. If it's really bad some stuff may fall apart just taking it apart.

Sounds like you have a lot of corrosion that needs to be cleaned out.

Using the parking brake might help break the bond, but don't go hog wild or you could mess up the parking brake cable.

Can you not rinse off the rear immediately after you launch the boat and park the truck? That way you aren't letting the salt sit on them for hours while you are boating.

when you park your truck after launching, use some wheel chocks and dont use the parking brake. The shoes are flash rusting to the drum.

Pull the jetski out when done for the day, drive home, park again without a parking brake, and hose the crap out of the drums (get in from the backside at the gap between the drum and backing plate). Then go for a drive with a chunk of stops n goes to heat up the brakes to get rid of any water.

If possible you could wash with fresh water at the launch ramp and the drive home will dry everything out.

    Good suggestions above.
Raise with fresh and don't use parking brake when parking right after saltwater - no way to keep water out.

You probably need to pull the drums off and grease all the pivots for the shoes mainly the lower parking brake pivot as they rust solid.
Also contact points for the shoes to backing plate, self adjuster star threads, and see if springs all a mess. Check parking brake cable.
The backing plate rusts so if you pull shoes all off paint them.
The sand/sediment also causes issues and check wheel cylinder seals and can eat the rear spring bushings too.
