Good evening, having trouble with my Tacoma, hoping someone has had a similar problem and can give me some direction.

For about 2wks now my Tacoma (4.0L V6, auto, prerunner, 60k miles) is intermittently loosing power while running down the highway. At lower speeds (ex: 60mph and under) its has good power and runs great like it always has, but running 75mph (Tx speed limit) it intermittently will start loosing speed even on flat ground. I slowly increase throttle to try and maintain speed to the point it downshifts but it acts like the engine has nothing left to give, even flat on the floor it struggles to run 70mph. When it goes back to running correctly it will cruise comfortably at 75mph even on hills w/o downshifting w/minimal throttle. It has never thrown a check engine light & the engine has never missed, stumbled, etc.

Any idea what could be causing this? I've ran 5 tanks of fuel thru it since it first started acting up, all from different filling stations, and have already tried running some injector cleaner thru it, no help so far.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Possibly a Dirty fuel filter or a fuel pump going bad.

I thought fuel filter also but my local dealership said it doesnt have a fuel filter, only the sock on the pickup in the fuel tank.

I had a 2010 dc sport did the same thing every once in a while. It felt like someone turned the key off for about 2 seconds. It just went away by itself I never figured out what was wrong....It had 67000 miles on it.

Get the dealer to check the fuel pump pressure. Keep going back if they will not listen. The squeaking wheel gets the grease.

Yes I know it does not have a conventional fuel filter but the one in the tank can get clogged. Also as I mentioned the pump might be getting bad.
