2013 DC OR Tacoma had that horrible windshield howl. Dealer finally agreed to reinstall with moulding kit at 3,800 miles. No noise now. This is an old problem in prior year Tacomas and not resolving it in new models is bad business on the part of Toyota.

It also has rattling in rear springs since about 500 miles (now at 7,500). Two visits to different dealers have resulted only in tightening everything with a result of continued rattling noises. The OR suspension is 3 springs versus the 4 springs on the Sport suspension. Rear spring issues have also been problems on prior year Tacomas and not resolving them in new models is really bad business on the part of Toyota.

Just wanted to document these issues for anyone that has similar problems.

Tighten your spare tire...it's those springs.

I agree with you. More than likely the spare tire!

Thanks for the two suggestions about spare tire. However, I tried both tightening the spare and removing it completely. No change in what I believe is rear leaf spring rattle over slight bumps. Gets quite noisey on dirt or rocky roads. Have not done any hard off road driving yet. What bums me is that I love this new Tacoma but my 13 year old Frontier (sold it to buy the new Tacoma) with lots of off road driving on it did not make this much noise on rough surfaces.

Not sure I've heard a rattle sound from the springs before ?????

If your ubolts are tight and all the bushings are good and everything torqued, I'm confused where a rattle would come from.

Only common sounds heard when all is tight is squeaking from the leafs rubbing.

When you find out whats making the sound be sure to let us know
