Hi guys, I just picked up a 2013 Tacoma DC, and am looking at buying a set of winter wheels (tire/rim that I can easily swap)--I found a set on CL from a 2007 Taco, but the TPMS sensors have been removed. I've read through the forums, and sounds like my sensor light my not be too bothered if I keep the stock wheels in the garage near the truck when its parked. But I was curious if there was any way to temporarily disable the TPMS sensor or any clever ideas that don't involved buying more sensors and sticking them in a PVC tube or some black electrical tape.

I did find the thread about disabling the 2006 TMPS sensors, but it wasn't clear if that would work on anything newer....

Worst case, I drive around with a little yellow light, not the end of the world by any means.

I just deal with the light being on. If you park near your summer tires at night, you can drive a good ways the next day before the light comes on.

FWIW, even if you get new sensors, you can't just throw new sensors into the new wheels and expect the computer to pick them up. You'll have to get the new sensors programmed to the truck's computer each time you swap.

When I switched wheels I just dealt with the light for a while, but like Pugga said if you keep the old ones nearby it will reset at night.

When I had my dash apart doing a different mod, I removed the LED light. I wish I had done it sooner.

Thanks! That's my plan right now--plenty of room in the garage for the stock tires.

That's all that I am going to do until spring is drive around with the light on. I don't see the point to swap the sensors to each set. Plus I wasn't spending the $400.00(CDN) to get new ones for the winter rims and tires, it's not worth it.
