Looks good. Take a close look at the boxed frame sections near the front, cab mounts, and floor sheet metal and corners. 2013 isn't old. You should get at least 10 years out of a rust belt Tacoma. More than that if you take care of them and keep them clean and oiled.

The springs are the only things that look kinda bad.
    Everything else looks okay.

    Any pictures of the frame?

Spend some maintenance time with some phosphoric acid to neutralize the rust followed by application of chassis black. You could also use one POR15 or one of the Eastman chassis products.

Jump starting this thread: Also looking at a 2013 DCLB (148k miles for 22k). Truck is from SLC, so rust, but the guy says he has all his vehicles coated for protection. Have all service records for last 5 years. Is this too much in some spots though?

It seems kinda bad at some welds and near wheels.

    All stock, baby!
Yup, looks pretty darned good. You can touch up the differential and some of those welds if you want, it’s not very much work.

I would say that's very good given the age. A 2-3 beer afternoon with the angle grinder and a couple of wire cups, a rattle can of Rustoleum black and a good coat of fluid-film, that thing will be cherry under her skirts!

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty worries about the rear diff, but sounds like I may be overthinking it.

My other option is 2008 trd sport DCLB with 140,000 for 20k. CA truck with only surface rust on the shocks, and was leaning that way.

But I may be more inclined to this 2013 now.
