I loved my 04 but quiet is not an accolade that I would assign to it.

Check to make sure they installed glass. Are you getting exccesive wind when you drive?

I really think you need a better deal on either truck. They both are over priced. The 16 in a dcsb 4x2 is not hard to find and so it shouldn't be such a long wait. If you like the second gen I would try and get the price down or just pass on this one. I sold my 2012 TRD sport with 22k miles for 24k last year. That's a more realistic number for a second gen depending on the trim.

Either truck will give you many years of solid service (this board's skepticism about the 3G notwithstanding) so your choice just boils down to the age-old new vs used question. Personally I like having a warranty, getting the latest and greatest tech/features, think the new Taco is one of the best looking trucks out there, spec'ing exactly to my tastes, and knowing everything that happened in the truck's history. So I would definitely pick up the '16 and pay the premium to get it.

But if you don't want to pay the depreciation, don't mind (or even like) having the old school kit, comfortable with the condition and history of the '13, it makes sense to choose it too.

I don't think it's a choice between the 2013 and a used 2016. More like used versus new. If you're gonna shell out 33k for a used almost new truck, why not buy a new one? My bookkeeper just bought a 2016 for around that price. I've never bought used. I know, I'm stupid. But if there's a scratch, dent, burn, or anything else I want to be the one that did it. Plus I know everything about my car from zero to ???? miles. I love my 2013. And the dealer keeps offering my stupid money to buy it back. I think the private party will go down a bit if you push.

Yeah, vents. The 13 will have vents that either blow on you or need to be shut down. At least with the circle vents in my '16 I can direct air any direction I want.

I bought my 2015 with 7k miles. The kid bought it then knocked his girlfriend up and couldn't afford the truck. Dealer bought it back. So I got a sweet discount and a 100k bumper to bumper warranty. Point is, low miles on the lot does not mean it's a "problem truck". Could be lots of reasons.

Now go post this same thing + Poll in the 2nd Gen section and see what the results are. Compile the answers and go from there.

I could give a damn what other people think. I loved my 2nd and love my 3rd gen. Both are great trucks.

let me get this straight. You are hoping something goes wrong with my 2016 Tacoma so that you'll feel better about staying in the 2014 Tacoma that you drive, right?

No, I hope you have great success with your 2016. Eventually I'll have to upgrade. However, the odds seem against you.
