My '16 goes away for good next weekend. I've owned it 6 months and 10,000 miles , it's been in the shop 6 times for transmission and drive ability issues. I'm gonna throw a party the day this pile of shit leaves my driveway!
That being said , the only way I'll ever own a Tacoma again will be a 2011-2015.
And as far as the '13 being overpriced that's because the '11-'15's are worth their weight in gold with all these shitty '16's coming off the assembly line

I have actually been told that by a Ford mechanic when I bought my 2001 F-350 in 2002. 2002 was when Ford switched from the 7.3L P/S and went to a new diesel and tranny. Glad I had took his advice because Ford had a lot of problems till they fixed the bugs.

I'm sorry you got a "lemon" for your 2016 Tacoma. But, my 2016 is NOT shitty. I love it, had no problems, and love it way way more than my 2013 Tacoma I traded in for it.

Find a 4.7 Gen 1 Tundra V8 at a Toyota dealer, buy the 3/36 extended warranty for $1500. There's no replacement for displacement.

The 4.7 is good but between the 3.6 and 4.0 then go with what's got a proven track record

I dunno if it really matters at this point in the thread, but my '16 has gained very noticeable power after putting 2k+ miles on it. I was never terribly disappointed about the power, although a little more bottom end would have been nice, but it sure pulls nicely above 3k. Even the 4.0L was lacking bottom end coming from a V8 :/

At least the 4Runner is made in JAPAN and doesn't have the 3.5 6speed huntomatic trans.
I honestly think most of my problems with the Tacoma are because it was assembled in Mexico.
My trans temp light has come on at least 3 times , the motor sounds like it has a knock to it when you listen to it in the garage , trans slips when it's not hunting for a gear , wind noise from both front doors , oh and it wanders worse than my old jeep did

Sometimes I think that myself, but its hard to come to that conclusion sometimes especially if the same problem shows up on a Texas built Tacoma. I have a Texas built model and it had low fluid/hood flutter issues. The 3.5L engine/transmission is what it is.. I wish it was better at times but I should have done a little more research before buying I suppose.

The 2nd Gens were no unicorn trucks by any means, Toyota issued lots of TSBs and some recalls for them over the past decade. Overall in the long run, they proved their merit and reliability though. Thats something we have to wait around and see if the 3rd gen can do.

I'm sure you'll love your 4Runner TRD PRO, I passed on two quicksand PROs recently. I'm in love with the inferno PRO color... it sucks they discontinued that color for the Tundra. After having a loaner Tundra I've all but decided my next vehicle will be a TRD PRO Tundra looks like I may have to settle on the MGM color though.

Also what was the trade value on the 16' Limited?

I paid $38k for the limited and am getting $34k on the trade 6 months and 10k miles later.
Sucks loosing money, especially since I had planned to keep this one for s long time
I guess it's A small price to pay to not have the frustration I have daily with my truck.
I absolutely loved my 2011 dclb 4.0 auto 4x4 and had high hopes of my 16 being the same if not better hopefully the 4 runner will be better

You did fine. KBB says your truck is about $34,888 in very good condition retail. Probably wouldn't get that through private sale unless you are a good liar, but that could open a suit. The dealer already set price and you are still driving it? That would be unusual.

They said as long as I don't go much over 10,000 miles that the $34 k would be honored until the 4Runner shows up.
    I have a signed agreement.
I think the only reason they are willing to do it this way is because I bought the Tacoma from them and am also buying the 4Runner from them
