2014/2013 oem base radio microphone not connected/bluetooth issue

Have a 2014 regular cab with base radio. Was getting microphone not connected message and code b1579, I cleared all the personal data from the radio as well as let it sit 24 hours with battery disconnected no dice same code/error...

I then reached out to a buddy with a 2013 reg cab truck who had his oem radio, I plugged that in and the bluetooth connected / plays music... then a call came in and they could not hear anything..

Does the 2013 radio/bluetooth module not need to see a microphone connection to connect bluetooth? Is my 2014 radio fine and I just have a bad microphone?

Unsure about the 13 vs 14 radio but have you popped the center overhead console down and made sure the microphone is plugged in?

 

I had the same issue in my 2014 a few months back. I tried everything I could and even had a Toyota tech check it out…

You need a new unit. The unfortunate truth.

BUT a new head unit and new speakers is an awesome upgrade to the poor quality OEM stuff.

 

my bluetooth mic is plugged in but I think I may need a new mic, the "new/ 2013 radio" connected to bluetooth and plays music but caller couldnt hear me, anyone selling oem mic that upgraded radio?
