I was wondering if anyone has had to replace the bed side top protector on their Tacoma. Mine got broke loose near the tailgate. I have the part waiting on me at my local dealership, but I don't want to pay them to replace the part. I looked at it the other day, and it appears to me that there are two clips holding it in place with plastic body push rivets. ( the same thing used to hold most plastic parts onto the body of every vehicle these days) What I don't know is whether or not there are more clips under the bed side protector.

If someone has information on this please let me know. It's bad enough the dealership wants to charge me $92.00 for a piece of plastic that took 30 seconds to mold. I don't want to have to pay more for something I could install myself.

    Thanks,
    Michael.

Thanks for the options on the steel protectors. However, I am simply wanting to find out how the bed side top protectors are attached.

The plastic caps just snap on the bedside. The clips are part of the plastic cap.

However, the clips will break off when the plastic cap is removed.

    Thanks for the info Tom.

I thought that might be the case, but I was not certain.
