The gas mileage thing I mentioned for the many others with my setup that have mentioned the lack of a good OD gear... I could care less, I have the truck for nearly 2 years and have 8000 miles on it... not a huge deal... its the drone of the motor w/ trd exhaust at over 3000 rpms for hours on a long trip that I'd like to change... because aside from that... and the clutch pressure plate being overpowered by the s/c here and there, I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!

OP look at my post right before yours. Yes, .6517 was the gear ratio.. BUT those are still based on my example. Need to know your actual RPMs which it looks like someone already stated.
Yes the only real option is IF you can, have a custom gear made, but I'm interested in that FJ swap...

URD has some nice clutch set ups. I have the stage 3+, and it's like an on/off button. http://urdusa.com/store/Clutch-and-Flywheels-Clutches-by-URD/c178_197/index.html

Thank you all for your insight so far. At 80 mph I am just over 3100 rpm... for the sake of the percentage, I think we're close enough... a .65 to .73 gear or anything in between would be a great improvement. Now... iiiiiiif the 6th gear combo from the FJ was interchangeable with my trans... that would be ideal... all toyo parts and all is good. This I don't know....

everythign discussed in this thread is completely moot point.

The price you are going to pay to get cruising rpms down is NEVER going to be paid back over the lifetime of the truck by gained mpgs.

I think he is more concerned with not making the engine piss its pants.

Do you think being blown would hurt reliability at those RPMs? I am unsure of how the S/C works. Is it engaged at top speeds? Or only when you hit it for acceleration?

supercharger is always spinning and dependent on engine RPMS.

with nose cone oil change intervals of 100k miles.... i wouldnt worry one bit about its longevity.

yeah the small gear train in the nose of the super charger and bearings are bathed in a little oil with 100k mi oil change intervals as far as i know.

The supercharger is sealed and the bearings have their own oil.

The Baja has about the same suspension as the Pro...I've seen posts of a Pro with 285's and no rub issues. You say you don't really wheel the rig, you might be able to run 285's as is...

285's will rub if you actually flex the truck.

From what the OP said, he doesn't do any serious wheeling with the truck. There have been a couple of posts from Pro owners who were running 285's on the stock Pro / Baja wheels without any issues. Just figured it would be a cheap way to achieve his goal if the truck is pretty much street driven. He may have to drop his mud flaps but supposedly they clear the UCA's and didn't have any serious rub issues with the stock wheels from the Pro's.

but the amount the OP wants to drop rpms... the 7.3% difference you get from a 285/75R16 vs a 265/70R16 is pretty much nill.
