I don't have a Tacoma, but lots of mirrors!
That's a 2013 Tacoma autodim compass temp homelink backup camera mirror, also known as a Gentex GHSHL4 mirror. On these you can change the display color to white, orange, green or blue, and you can have it display compass and temperature or just compass or just temperature, or none if you'd like. From what I understand, this was a late production 2012 & 2013 model year option. These mirrors have a digital temperature sensor input & get the temperature signal from the AC Amplifier module in the dash. I believe it can be retrofitted to earlier models...search around the forum, as I think someone posted about this. I do know that you can also used these without the temperature sensor hooked up as a compass only mirror. Or if you would want something like this for another vehicle & need the whole gamut, I also have these for sale as the Mito GENK3350S mirror kits that come with the wiring harness, temp sensor, etc., for installation on other vehicles that do not have a digital temperature sensor signal available.

    Regards,
    Bob Prim

Thanks to the members of this forum and this particular thread for
    a. making me feel better about missing that little omission on the 14' (when I traded my '12--which had one) to begin with;
and b. making the fix for this "weird" move by Toyota. Now, to learn how to get a hold of Bob and his magic mirrors...

Email to James Lentz, Prez of Toyo of North America, got me pushed downhill to a corpo-speak apologist named Danica "I love my job" Sorenson. She was mounting an 'investigation' that has taken more than a week so far. She was quick to say, "Although I cannot raise expectations of any assistance...", meaning she was there to wear my patience down enough for me to give it up.
I have another call back from Danica scheduled today.
Meanwhile, the great folks at my dealer, specifically Kamal and Brad at One Toyota of Oakland CA, called and said they have a solution. I pay for the upgrade mirror, they install at n/c.
Until it is in and working, I will suspend the celebration, but bottom line is Toyo Corporate is completely out of touch with its customer base (the money that keeps the company going!) and we owners are left holding the bag. UNLESS, OF COURSE, OUR DEALER IS STAND UP!
    Which mine appears to be!
Our main purchase in life is a home, followed closely by our wheels. The execs are promoted based on bottom line performance, namely squeezing out each and every penny they can to enhance the bottom line. They are so short-sighted as to have forgotten that customer retention is the name of the game. Winning the battle only to lose the war.
As Island Cruiser said early on in this topic, "They should maintain or enhance the technology, not deter from it!" Or would you rather hear, ""Although I cannot raise expectations of any assistance..." from your vehicle manufacturer?
Toyota is either moving forward or shrinking back, those are the only choices. Let's hope this is not just the beginning of the end!

    Hey Bob,
So I have a 2014 and I like the white letters/numbers of that mirror. If I understand you right this mirror will work in my 2014, and while I can use the temperature sensor in the AC Amplifier (I have no idea where that even is) I can also add temperature wires and a new sensor like the 435 I believe it is that has the blue numbers. The GENK3350S also has Homelink as well correct. I have a backup camera already in the head unit will there be a cut out that will decrease the total area of the mirror?? Is there any way to get a full view of the GENK3350S. Are there other mirrors that have the White light Compass/Temp/Homelink/Autodimming features? Price? I saw $299 in a post before for the 435 I believe it is. Thanks for your help.

I fell for the confusing data, too. i have a '14 double cab, TRD w/nav. And a rear view mirror left over from the '50s. It has this amazing lever that tilts the mirror and deflects the glare. Wow.
However, when off road I do not know the direction I am heading, how cold it is outside and when home I cannot open my garage door remotely.
I haven't had such a backward vehicle in memory. And if I put in a GENTEX after market, Toyota Corporate tells me they will void my warrantee!
Remember when Toyota's slogan was, "I love what you do for me, Toyota!"? Now it should say, "I HATE what you do TO me, Toyota!"

Wait....how would installing an after market mirror void your warranty. I think id of referenced the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 that allows you to change add things to a car with warranty and unless it can be shown that your install/the part caused the failure in question the warranty remains valid. Then told Toyota to kiss your ass and fixing the truck.

See post #297 on this thread. I made a .pdf you can d/l and use for guidance. Yes, its easy to install. If you don't want a temp model, it can be done in about 30min or less.

Yes, the 2014 is pre wired with the plug above the headliner. You get everything you need from Bob. Just PM him and he'll get what you need.

    Best addition I made!

Just purchased my mirror from Bob, what a easy guy to work with!!! Everything was done within 15 mins from initial E-mail to invoice and payment with tracking number sent. I can only hope installing this mirror is as easy as dealing with Bob. :) Can't wait to get it!!! Hopefully this weekend!! Thanks Bob

However many of the ORs I looked at did not have it - however they did not have nav or jbl ... I wonder if it's part of one of the media packages not off-road

Toyota has seen the error of their ways and will return the outside temp feature (now only a "Limited" option) in the '16 models.
    Push back was strong.

Got my mirror from Bob and had it installed in my 2014 within 30 minutes with compass and homelink working perfectly. How this could possibly void any warranty would baffle me as well. It looks stock, no cutting or splicing of any wires, and slides right on to a preexisting piece (the OE mirror mount.) Any voiding of any warranty would be a major battle in my book...I think it sucks that Toyota doesn't offer this as an option, but at least the fix for their oversight is fairly simple. Thanks Bob for allowing me to give my garage door clicker back to my wife! Homelink is awesome...

I bought the mirror and had a shop do the work for me. According to them all the wiring was in place but they did not want to use the installed Toyota temp sensor and installed the one that came with the mirror, which meant they had to run that wire.

I don't have a Tacoma, but lots of mirrors!
The 2014's do not have any temperature sensor wiring in place in the mirror plug...the only three wires are ignition hot, constant hot & ground. The only model years that had a temperature sensor wire in place were the late 2012's and 2013 models. However, this temperature sensor wire is digital & cannot be used with the autodim compass temp homelink mirrors that I have been selling to Tacoma owners - these particular mirrors, the GNTX-453 series, use an analog 2 wire temperature sensor setup. There were were only two Gentex mirrors that had temperature display that Toyota used on the late '12 and '13 Tacomas - one was autodim/compass/temp with backup camera display & the other was the same but with Homelink - these two had the single wire digital temperature sensor input.

Is Toyota still offering the $100 check for the missing temp gauge?
