Ive got one of those silly chrome pushbars on my truck now, but want to upgrade. It's pain purpose would be for maximum light mounting but some protection would be nice. What I have on there now is a damage multiplier for sure. Not too worried about collisions with other vehicles, more like deer. I am hesitant to get a full replacement bumper because of the weight and cost. Id like to stay under 800 bucks if possible. Any suggestions? Looking around the forum Ive seen a lot of stuff I like, but no labels. Thanks in advance!

I had a 2006 Taco with a bull bar. Hit a deer with it, it didn't budge, just moved one of the lights out of place a bit.

I didn't hit it very fast, but it still saved me from any damage and didn't take any itself.

Also interested in ideas people have for this as well.

    Not enough...
There are aluminum plate bumpers you could for under $800 probably. Hell, Pelfreybuilt, which looks freaking amazing is $845 base price.

All-Pro makes a nice modular one, they also make the solid one-piece APEX series bumper, which I run and Capital-L-Love ... unfortunately they're out of your price range.

You're probably going to have to go a little bit over 800 if you want something that's actually functional.

What about a Tubular bumper? They're light but that doesn't necessarily mean they're weak.

Give the guys at All Pro a call. They make some of the best stuff on the planet for these trucks. They have a standard front and the APEX. The standard is in your price range and you really get what you pay for. Here is a link to the standard bumper. Here is the APEX...

Also forgot to ask. Any word on weight of these bumpers or decrease in mpg? Also I assume I'd need at least a leveling kit to keep my front end from sagging?

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
I built this out of 3/16 c chanel, angle iron, and 3/16 for the skid as well (the lights arent attached in this pic just layed uo there) it weighs about 85lbs but the stovk bumper and crash bar weigh like 20 lbs, and i only have like $150 in it. Could be an option if u have or have access to a grinder, drill, and a welder.[IMG]

Your going to be right at 130lbs with an apex (no hoops), standard bumper is a little less than that. You will want to do something to the front suspension. There are a ton of options there. Very little difference in fuel mileage, no different than hauling 150lbs in the bed, probably wont notice.

Depending on the bumper you get, if you do hoop options they have light tabs already, you can weld and modify if you want. May even be as simple as drilling a couple holes depending on what you want to do.

Yes there are lots of guys plasti dipping and spray painting, just keep a can handy if your using it like it was meant to be used. I will say this, who ever does All Pro's powder coating does one hell of a job. Like mademan said the bed liner would be your best option.

    Hope that helps:thumbsup:

2014-07-26 14.37.17.jpgI'd recommend the All Pro bumper for sure. You wont be disappointed! Or save up the extra few bucks and get the AllPro Apex 3-hoop. If you ever run it into anything, hit a deer, etc. you'll be glad you had it. These bumpers hold up to some serious shit.
    Hey- nice truck Magnetic!
